Chapter 53

When Liam finally came home, it was at almost midnight. He had a prominent smell of Brandy on him and mumbled a response when Elena greeted him. He went straight to his room and shut the door. Almost at Elena's face.

"I shall see you by morning," was the only explanation he gave.

Elena stood outside the door, looking without understanding the patterns created by the mahogany wooden door. Her hand hovered above the door knob. It might be open if she tried it, but she didn't want to encroach into his privacy.

But it just didn't feel right to let him be. She really wanted to get an explanation. Her head was filled with imaginative scenarios and ideas, and she wanted him to confirm or disburse them.

Did Lola really die? If she did, how was she shot? And, more importantly, who did it?
