His scream startled me, and I quickly sat up on my bedding, concerned about what had happened.

"What happened?" I asked, looking at him with worry.

As I turned my head to look at him, I noticed that his face had turned pale, and he was visibly shaking.

"What's wrong?" I inquired, trying to understand the sudden change in his demeanor.

He pointed at something on the floor, stuttering, "Cock... cockroach."

I followed the direction of his trembling finger and indeed spotted a cockroach on the floor.

I stood up on my bed.
