Chapter Fourty-Eight

Karen's POV

I watched in shock as the doctors and nurses took his lifeless body into the operating theater, my heart beating rapidly.

"How's he?" I asked a nurse who came out of the operating theater, she ignored him and entered the doctor's office. I couldn't hear them but it appeared urgent, the doctor quickly came out of his office with her and they both ran into the operating theater and closed the door.

It was really confusing because I couldn't see anything there. The door was covered inside with a curtain. "Karen," I heard a familiar voice and I turned to see my mom in tears. Running towards her, I hugged her and began crying. It was all my fault, none of this would have happened if I didn't deceive Brody. 

"Mom, I'm a bad person." I murmured amidst tears.

She kissed my forehead and looked at me. "No, you're not a bad person, everything would be alright soon." She assured me but I couldn't be consoled. Tears flowed down my eyes freely as the image hit me,
