Chapter IV

“Of course, you can call me your hubby,” Jared grins giving her a glimpse and back on the road. He could imagine how surprised she could’ve looked.

“Didn’t you hear what I said?”

“Too loud, baby.”

He hears her release a sharp breath. It somehow amused Jared how this repulsive wife of his behaves. From the moment they encounter at the bar, he should’ve known.

“Baby? Listen I’m not supposed to be married! I have a boyfriend!”

“Then you should’ve stayed at home,” he calmly said.

Rossie smacks her lips in frustration, giving him the infamous rolled eyes while shaking her head lightly. They sure don’t quite get along.

“What in the ‘it was an accident' don’t you understand?” she fires.

“Why haven’t you filed one? You could’ve gone today.”

“You’re making this difficult,” she mutters. “How long did you know we were married?”

“Two weeks ago,” he replies.

A sarcastic laugh echoed in the car, following his wife’s glare. He didn’t have to look at her, he could already feel the tension that someone has sharp eyes on him.

In the first week, he had to look for her again, and luckily, he found her once more. It was trouble to approach her without her knowing about the marriage so he had to wait. And it was more interesting when his friend Lucas texted him.

“Why didn’t you approach me immediately? I could’ve gotten a warning!”

“I had to find you.” And when I did you barely could recognize me, he wanted to add but remained silent about it. “If you want a divorce, file one.”

“How are you so okay with this?” Her voice getting louder.

“I don’t have time to file one and go to court. I’m busy.”

“Then why are you driving-- wait, you know where I work?”

“It’s a husband’s duty to drive his wife to work safe and sound.”

“No! I’m asking do you know where I work?!”

“I know Lucas, don’t I?”

Her jaw drops, staying with the ‘what-the-fuck?’ expression for a moment until she put a hand down, looking all flustered. If only he could shake this lady off right now, he wouldn’t do this. But he needs her for now so he has to be patient.

The moment his parents knew that he was married, they were less worried about him now. He has no time for all of this but he has a favor to ask his wife which is why he decided to find her again. The downside of this was that she wants a divorce and he needs to stay married to her.

“You have to stop addressing me as your wife, you know,” she sassed. “It was a mistake. We should be talking about the divorce.”

“Do you think that’s that easy to get a divorce here? Showing up at court is a hassle to me so do what you want.”

“Don’t you have a girlfriend? Cause I have a boyfriend!”

Immediately, the corners of his mouth lifted, showing his wicked smile to her. He bet she didn’t even know they were in front of her workplace. She’s beautiful, he thought.

“Why would I need a girlfriend when I already have a wife?” He watches as the expression on her face changes from being frustrated to getting flustered. Those rosy cheeks are visible only with low light. He needed to reach his hand, opening the door for her. “Have a good night at work, baby.”

Rossie could only bite her lower lip. The aura of this gorgeous man in front of her is just too annoying yet at the same time, it is refreshing. Her mouth had to stay closed and she stomped outside of his car.

“I’m filing one!” she shouts with furrowed brows before slamming his door shut.

Jared softly laughs watching his wife march away and into the glass door of her workplace. He watches the red letters that say the corporation’s name. He scoffs before turning away.

Now that they’ve spent a little time together, it will be much easier tomorrow. He hopes she’ll listen to him. Women like his wife act out of their anxious thoughts. One of them has to remain calm in a conversation. He should also learn how to stop confronting her irritably.

That’s when his phone alarmed so suddenly. It has the label, ‘wife waits’. He won’t be needing this alarm anymore but he’ll be keeping it.

“I’ll just have to stop her if she tries filing one,” he murmurs. “I just have to prove I’m fine.”
