Chapter 13

  The prison sat in an independent corner of the Duke’s palace. The people of Huai\'an City knew that this tall and dignified prison was a special honor given by the Emperor to the Duke. Of course, the people of Huai\'an city also knew that anyone who was proven to have committed murder or any heinous crimes, was better off committing suicide.

In this prison were all kinds of cruel instruments of torture that were not available elsewhere. Each prisoner was sent in vertically, and left horizontally.

In the filthy cell, the jailers poured a basin of cold water on Elizabeth. The biting cold water had chunks of ice on it. She was now wearing flimsy clothes. The were soaked easily.

Lying on the ground, Elizabeth, in handcuffs and shackles, slowly opened her eyes. The ferocious prison guards stared back at her, and they all looked angry. Elizabeth kept silent.

She wouldn\'t admit to what she hasn\'t done.
