Chapter 100. A Misunderstanding

“It’s nothing. Just a slight misunderstanding,” I said with a gloomy expression.

“As if…” Vicente wasn’t buying my lies. “You look as if you would die any minute if you don’t meet her,” he said, deepening my fear and the heaviness on my chest.

How did our lives come to this? I bit my lower lip. Would it be any consolation if Vicente had her? Why was it easy for me to reason that? Why not Valentino?

“Do you love Rose enough to want to elope with her?” I couldn’t help but ask, even though I knew I sounded like a total idiot at that moment.

“What?” He asked with an incredulous expression. Yeah, I knew I was being completely incredulous at that point.

“Forget it,” I said and made to close the door, but he placed his leg to stop me.

“What the hell, man?” I almost snapped as he watched me with a stubborn look.

“You asked a question, and I’m yet to give an answer,” he said with a straight face, which I wasn’t comfortable with.
