ALARIC'S POV CON'T
“Sabre,” Octavia laughed as she closed the gap between them, running her hands up his chest, “let Kallan back out please,” she whispered and his eyes dulled to their normal green colour, now swirling for her.
“I already knew about the bracelet, I’m being careful and I’m fine, promise.” She kissed him on the cheek as his demeanour returned to normal and she walked over to where we stood with Brianna, holding out her hand for Brianna to take.
“I’m so sorry, we’re expecting again,” she smiled, “so Kal’s a bit more… protective.”
“Congratulations,” I heard Brianna’s voice break the tension as she offered her hand without the bracelet, an
OCTAVIA'S POV CON'TBrianna hesitantly placed her hands in my own, I could feel her wolf inside, and spoke to it briefly, before allowing my hands to drift back to my lap.“There,” I smiled at her, “I can assure you, your wolf has been waiting, impatiently,” I laughed, “for you to let her out, she’s aware of everything you see and hear, and she’s a bit more than anxious to meet her mates.”“Oh,” she hesitated, “can you tell me her name? Does she know that Alaric doesn’t want us? I don’t want her to hurt like I’m hurting.”“She knows,” I couldn’t help but feel a pain in my chest wash over me from her, “and her name, is Artemis,” the pain was instantly re
They wanted to know what prompted Kallan and Octavia's visit, but I wasn't really sure I knew any more than them. Octavia was vague and made it seem like her whole trip here was just to convince me to take my bracelet off.“She said she had a vision that I needed help,” I shrugged my shoulders, “something about my future, and encouraged me to let Artemis out.” Both of them practically dropped what they were holding, their eyes shooting down to my wrist, and stared at me for a moment.“Let Artemis out?” Xander was the first to speak.“Yea, she held my hands, somehow talked to my wolf,” I tucked my hair behind my ears as they grinned from ear to ear, “who are they anyway, you guys seemed… tense… around them.”
I would deal with everything else they just told me later, but for now I tried to divert the conversation back to how it originally started.“So you guys were tense because another Alpha was here? Did you think he was going to attack or something?”“Alpha’s don’t usually just show up,” Xander sat up straighter, “but they also don’t usually attack out of nowhere.”“The short version,” Wyatt seemed tense, “is that he earned the name ‘Kallan the Ruthless’ before he was old enough to have a wolf by killing a rogue,” he paused and realized I wouldn’t know what that was, “a wolf without a pack, he killed it with his bare hands, while it was in wolf form. He was rumoured to do all kinds of things in his ascent to being Alp
“I could easily take on a handful of these guys and win," I boasted, "and another dozen would be a challenge, but I’d still win, there are few I would put up a good fight against, but I wouldn’t be cocky enough to think I’d win.”“A secret warrior huh?” Wyatt raised his eyebrow at me as he studied my face, I couldn’t help looking at him, but I snapped my head back to watching the guards.“My dad made sure we trained in everything growing up, I’ve mainly trained against men,” I beamed but I don’t think Wyatt found it as amusing, “I could show you?”“No,” his response was immediate, and he looked irritated, "it's different Brianna, they have their wolf strength, you don't yet,"
“Give em to me anyways,” I surprised Xander by straddling him on the edge of the bed, sitting back into his lap, “or we’ll get distracted again and Wyatt won’t be pleased what he walks in on.”“Speak for yourself Precious,” he smirked, “some of us have self-control.”“Some of us, yes,” I smirked, “you?”“Pick a dress that airs on the side of sexy,” he tried to gauge my reaction, “my father is very, old school, so don’t talk out of turn or say anything controversial.”“Great,” I rolled my eyes and he gave me a look that said ‘I told you’.“Xander gets all the fun,” Wyatt pouted a
“It’s a pleasure sir,” I smiled sweetly at him, ignoring Alaric for a moment as I held out my hand to shake Barrett's. He grasped my hand gently, but firm, and turned it slightly as he leant over and kissed the top of my hand, keeping his eyes on me. “The pleasure is all mine,” his voice boomed as he skillfully took me and my dress in. “I told you,” Larissa chimed in giddily, “she’s gorgeous!” I’m sure I was blushing, maybe this wouldn’t be as bad as I thought it would be. I felt Xander’s hand guide me to the other side of the table where I noticed there were only two place settings. I sat where he took me but my heart was aching that Wyatt wouldn’t be beside me as well. When I looked up, Wyatt’s honey eyes were lighter than usual as he locked into mine, at least he was directly across from me, planned I’m
“Barrett, if you do this, I will NEVER forgive you,” Larissa was angrier than I could imagine her ever getting, “you don’t know what’s at stake, just leave.”“I, Brianna Roberts, a rogue,” Barrett started as he glared down his wife, “reject you, Alaric, Xander, and Wyatt Huxley of Shadow Forest, as my mate.” Larissa was crying uncontrollably, sitting down between the counter and the stove when his voice caught my attention again, “Do it quickly after you remove the bracelet, or your wolf won’t allow it. I know this isn’t easy Brianna, but what you’re doing is selfless for them, they will have a better life because of it, and the Moon Goddess might grant you a second chance at finding a new mate.”He left, leaving the house entirely, and I sat stunned and confused. I knew t
I sat there staring at him for a few moments, unsure of what to say if anything as Dez collected himself to continue.“Your father took me in when they died during one of the attacks to pose as your brother,” Dez’s voice paused again for a moment, “I was the only son his Beta had, and he knew that you would need me.”“Oh Dez,” I got up and hugged him, refusing to let go until he let me go, and then sat back down.“I would do anything for you Brianna,” he wiped away a tear of his own, “your mom was already pregnant with you, and they kept moving around until you were born. Your mom died giving birth to you, and your dad knew the prophecy about you was correct when you were born on the winter solstice. I was too little to remember any of that firs
