Forty Nine

The rest of the short walk to the pack hospital was more pleasant. Still plagued with concern, of course, but with no more unwanted interruptions, and it felt good to be close to Thane as we walked. The hospital was fairly quiet as we entered, and the two admins at the main desk looked up in surprise. I gave them a brief, friendly smile as Thane led me past, turning down a long, quiet corridor that let towards the South.

I noticed that this end of the building seemed more dated, not as clean and modern as the rest, and Thane noticed my gaze. "The rest of the hospital is updated regularly, but this wing hasn't really been used for decades. There's not been any need," he said, a touch of guilt in his voice. I tilted my head up towards him, with a small smile, "The fact you haven't needed it shows good leadership," I said quietly, "I'm sure your pack is grateful for that."
