The rest of lunch was enjoyable, and I couldn't help but notice that everyone who came over to meet me was so friendly and warm. I nodded sadly and tried to push my way from between the two of them, but they only closed in around me more. Cole held my face gently, tilting it up towards him, "I'm so sorry, little mate, I had no idea," he said softly, a look of both guilt and sorrow on his face. Luca put on a superhero movie he seemed particularly fond of, and grabbed a couple of throws, putting one across my lap before relaxing back next to me. I woke up feeling just as disoriented and unable to move, but for different reasons, I quickly realised, feeling my wrists and ankles bound to some kind of frame. I tried to open my eyes, and found them covered, and made myself completely still again, listening. I couldn't hear anyone, and with any luck, perhaps my captors hadn't noticed me wake. I felt Lisbet beginning to pull hard at the cuffs and chains then, trying to break them, and I began to wonder if she'd lost it. 'You heard them,' I said to her quietly, within our mind, 'They're solid iron, even a Lycan couldn't break them.' I leapt aside, terrified, and turned sharply, realising he'd leapt at Quentin behind me, the two of them now engaged in fierce battle. 'I'm right behind him little wolf,' Thane's voice said, and I felt a wave of relief as I heard another bike coming through the tunnel, but it was quickly diminished as I saw Finn get thrown across the ground, staggering slightly as he pushed himself to his feet again, blood dripping from deep claw wounds across his chest. Fury rose up inside me then, and as Quentin stretched up and howled, no doubt calling the others to his side, I dropped my things and launched myself at him. It took him by surprise as my jaw went straight for his armpit, my long canines penetrating deep, right where I knew I'd hit a vital nerve network, and potentially an artery. I clamped down hard, and he snarled loudly, using his whole body to try and shake me off violently. Thane reached over to squeeze my shoulder gently, as he saw the look on my face, then headed over towards Jess. She started screaming, "What the fuck are you doing?! Why aren't you helping him?!" sounding panicked and heartbroken. She tried pulling his arms up and hoisting him over her shoulder, but his the weight of his huge, limp body made her stumble. The ride home was rough, with the adrenaline from the chase and subsequent fight well and truly gone, and the cold turning bitter as night began to fall. It didn't help any being half naked, with my legs exposed to the icy wind for all of the long ride home. By the time the bikes slowed and pulled into the garage, I felt frozen, numb, and trembling. I stumbled as I tried to dismount, and Finn caught me, steadying me before he dismounted too, taking my helmet. I only shivered more, trying to tug the hem down on the hoodie and wiggle my fingers to warm them, and they both looked at me with expressions of deep concern. Cole took the helmet from Finn, gesturing for his jacket and gloves too. "Let me put everything away and go and check in, get her upstairs and into a hot bath," Cole said, coming over and pulling me against him while Finn took his gear off.
