Chapter fifteen
Kennedy
I woke with two roses on the pillow next to me. I sigh in disappointment that neither of my mates were with me. I climb out of bed and step in the shower. I let the warm water run over my growing belly, calming their aggressive kicking.
Sandalwood floods the shower and feel as Skylar wraps at my back. She places her hands on my drumming stomach and thankfully the kicking calms immediately. I let out a relieved breath and rest my head back against her chest.
"Sam is dealing with something with her parents. She could sense they were stressed and sent me. I'm sorry neither of us were with you," she says in a sincere tone. "I had to inform my clan that we'll be joining yours and that you were my new mate. They know to treat you and Sam with the same respect they give me."
"Even now that we formed the mate's bond, you can't sense the twins," I ask in a breathy whisper.

KennedyWatching Skylar with Kelly these last few days has been heart warming. I could see the joy in her eyes everytime Kelly called her Papa. When Kelly wasn't around, she looked down in the dumps. I realize I'm alone and walk out of the room with my head low. Someone tries to scratch my ear and I let out a warning growl.The hand pulls away and I see it was one of Skylar's leopards I've recently gotten close with, Bethany. She goes to walk away but I nudge her side. She notices the sad look in my eyes and scratches under my chin. I step closer, accepting her comfort. "I was on my way back to cuddle with you so you didn't wake up alone," she says in a soothing whisper and I let out a calming breath. KennedyI woke up, wrapped up in a blanket in the middle of the nest of pillows. I was surrounded by a large group of leopards, but the betrayal from yesterday rises to the surface. I discard the blanket and tiptoe naked to the bedroom for a shower. I let the water run along my body and caress my stomach. It feels as if they're the only ones who haven't betrayed me. Granted Skylar and Samantha's clans haven't either, but they all will eventually.I dress in some loose fitting clothes and do my best to braid my hair. I head down to the kitchen to make myself breakfast when I felt someone try to touch me. I whirl around and snarl in half leopard form before realizing it was Eloise. KennedyI woke with Skylar's head resting near my stomach, like she was afraid to leave my side and she'd lose the feeling of the twins from the ritual. Samantha was cuddled at Skylar's back and I hear our door open. It was Eloise. Seeing her after the betrayal of my clan was relieving.I break into relieved sobs, happy that the others weren't harmed while we were split between the communities. SkylarI woke, cuddled with Kennedy in half leopard form. She was still asleep and I saw it was well past dinner time. I nuzzle my cheek against her shoulder, purring and she looks back at me with sleepy eyes. I feel Samantha's pull gets stronger as she quietly opens the door. She sees we're awake and smiles lightly. "The kitchen is empty if you wish to eat. I asked that you both be left alone to rest," she says in a soothing tone and turns to leave the room."Samantha," Kennedy says quietly, switching back to her human form and Samantha turns back to look at her. "Thank you."Samantha bows her head and leaves the room. I help her out of bed and we head down to the kitchen. There was food already waiting for us and I could feel how relieved Kennedy felt. I kissed her temple and made her a plate as she sat in the corner of the dining room.
