Ramirez's POV

I heard the uproar of noises emanating from the palace, including my Luna's voice. I lay still on the bed, unable to move, while I gazed up at the roof, where I could see the moon, not yet full but halfway. I prayed to the moon goddess, whose stories I had heard since I was little, and how she had helped many people.

"Please, help me leave this position. Heal me so I can assist my Luna and be strong again," I pleaded, struggling to stand but failing. I ended up lying down, tears streaming down my face.

The footsteps of my fellow soldiers and others who were already prepared for battle echoed around me as they all rushed out, one after the other.

I could hear my mate Alicia's heartbeat from where I lay. We had hoped for a smooth and happy life after marriage, but our reality had become a nightmare. Our days were filled with sorrow and tears, with only brief moments of enjoyment.
