"It's a delight that members of my family are safe and away from all the drama going on here, Steve. I wouldn't want you to involve yourself in all these, so I implore you to stay where you are. Is that understood?" I was speaking in hused tones, so as not to disturb my sister who seemed to be in a peaceful sleep —the direct opposite of what the doctors had reported her to be. 

It was probably due to the tranquilizer they'd injected into her made her look so harmless and at peace. I could barely tell.

"But aunty mi," Stephen's voice brought my attention back to the matter at hand. "You  shouldn't be on your own. Doctor Deji has volunteered to care for Amaka while I'm gone. It'll only take a few days." 

"What will you do here? It is safer for you to—" 

"I'll run errands for you. I hate that you're alone in all these. I want to be there for you like you were when there was no longer hope for Amaka. It
