Bella’s Pov

The dress I had on felt too short and tight but Lucas had brushed it off and insisted that I looked amazing. So with reluctance I accepted his arm and allowed him to walk us down the narrow stairs.

The loud chattering as we descended the stairs had me frowning instantly. I didn’t feel like talking, my body was tired and I preferred to stay in bed over going to a party.

I wanted to complain that I didn’t want to be around people right now but I went against it knowing that Lucas had not been himself today.

He had been controlling and uncaring about my feelings all day and I knew that if I even made the smallest of a complaint that he would not react how I wanted him to.

The last thing I needed was for him to embarrass me or try to take me back upstairs. I internally showed my annoyance as the cold steps had me wanting to run back to the bed. Unfortunately Lucas’s threat had me obediently walking with him.
