Chapter 19

Alice spent most of the night staring at the ceiling long after Megan had joined her to sleep. Megan calling her name and shaking her to wake up felt sudden. Like she had only shut her eyes a few minutes ago and now she had to wake up. She wanted to sleep on the soft bed forever. Last night was a tremendous blow. It didn't just rain; it poured bad news.

“Ally,” Megan groaned before she pulled the cover, “Time to wake up.”

“Please let me be,” Alice whimpered and shifted her body, grabbing a pillow and burying her face in.

“No.” Megan sat on top of Alice. “Wake up. It’s time to go home.”

“We are home.” Alice shook her body, trying to get Megan’s body off her. She was being childish with her stunt. “Get off Meg.”

“Get out of Simon’s bed, Alice.”

Alice snapped her head up and looked at Megan. She looked around. “We should leave.”

“That’s what I’ve been saying,” Megan added, moving away from her.

“This shouldn’t have happened here.”
