Suddenly seeing the man she loved right in front of her after so long, Cara’s throat choked up with too many emotions at the same time. Tears pooled in her eyes as she stared at him wordlessly, gulping down the painful lump in her throat. Did he really come all the way here for her? Time stood still for them as Marcus gazed at her, his eyes brimming with helpless tears.
“I love you so much. Why did you leave me, Cara? I’ve been looking for you everywhere like crazy,” he cried, holding her close to his heart, crushing her to himself. For a moment Cara was shocked as the words echoed in her head. He loved her! He really loved her! His heart-wrenching confession as well as his tears touched Cara so much that she clung to him, forgetting the way he had betrayed her, the way he had kissed Cassie, everything.
“You love m-me?”
Marcus drew out the disguise he had kept hidden inside his tucked-in shirt. He quickly slipped the loose gown above her dress and fixed a wig over her head. Then drawing out the silicone mask, he fixed it over her face. Satisfied with his handiwork, he picked her up in his arms and walked out of the door in confidence. With Mike’s men diverting the attention of the guards at the front entrance, Marcus carried her towards the back door.“Sorry, sir. You cannot pass,” said one of the guards. Marcus produced the VIP pass and showed him.“My girlfriend passed out after taking the drug. Frederick has asked me to take her to his personal doctor in case things go out of hand. I’ll just call him and inform him that you aren’t cooperating,” said Marcus, with a brave face although he was panicking inside. He had fifteen min
“I will go after talking to the doctor. They’re all sleeping right now. I can’t scare them so early in the morning,” said Lucas gently comforting her. Cara nodded in understanding and looked at him expectantly, her eyes searching his face.“Promise me that you’ll go and check on them, Lucas,” she pleaded, her tired body sagging into the pillow, while her eyes were hooked onto Lucas’s as she waited for his word.“I will, Cara and I’ll update you soon. Now close your eyes and rest till the doctor arrives. If all goes well, he might release you. Then we will be able to go and see your family together,” said Lucas. Cara’s eyes widened with hope.“That would be wonderful but why isn’t Marcus opening his eyes? I can’t leave him
Lucas froze upon hearing her. He was at a loss not having expected this twist at all. “Please Lucas, he’ll kill all four of them. Please ask your team to discontinue the chase,” she sobbed, breaking down completely over the phone. Lucas was dumbfounded by her words. He couldn’t understand how there could be four when he remembered Maria mentioning that Cara had only three siblings. Did he not hear her correctly?“Don’t worry, Cara. I’ll just inform officer Berkeley. I’ll call you to update,” he said, disconnecting the call. He found officer Berkeley on the phone as well. He disconnected the call and turned to Lucas.“The team is following Frederick discreetly. He has a weapon and we can’t take any chances,” said the officer.“H
“Adam, where are Liam and Marianne? Did Frederick kidnap them as well?” asked a distraught Cara as she started looking inside the police car for her brother and her little baby.“I don’t know, Cara. I was fast asleep when Frederick tied me up and took me to his car. After a minute, his men brought Vera, and then we left. I saw uncle Joe and aunt Maggie lying on the floor of our living room. All our guards were lying unconscious on the ground. Our mouths were gagged and we couldn’t scream for help,” said Adam. Cara caught Lucas’s hand in a tight grip as tears crept pouring down her cheeks.“Lucas, please rescue my brother and my baby, Marianne. She’s just four months old. I beg of you, do something,” she cried, her voice hoarse with tears of desperation. She slumped to the ground in sh
Adam read the email that Liam seemed to have written in the morning.Adam,I saw Frederick and his men approaching our room when I emerged from the washroom last night. I tried waking you and Vera up but couldn’t. Time was short. So I picked up Marianne and escaped out of the backdoor. I escaped to Denis's house with Marianne. I can’t come home since Frederick’s men are keeping a watch over our house 24/7. They have rented the house next to ours and are roaming around on the beach as well. Cara's phone, uncle Joe and aunt Maggie’s phones are all tapped. I overheard them while escaping with Marianne. So use a different phone to contact me. Denis’s mom's number is 310-456-2533.I’m sure Frederick’s men are planning something big to harm us. Don&rsqu
Lucas pushed a leg forward and Nicholas too did the same. Three men came tumbling down onto the floor. Uncle Joe switched on all the lights, stunning them altogether. Lucas kicked the gun out of the hands of the fourth man and pointed it at his head while his other hand grabbed hold of his neck, pinning the criminal against the wall. Before his accomplices could get up and shoot them, officer Berkeley and his team appeared from their hiding places. They instantly handcuffed Danny Morgan and pointed their guns at the three men trying to get up.“Your game is up,” said the officer. His men confiscated the weapons and hauled up the men, handcuffing them and leading them away. After arresting the fourth one, officer Berkeley applauded Lucas and Nicholas.“Excellent work, both of you,” he said. “I’ve recorded their con
Marcus’s jaws dropped seeing the baby girl in Lucas’s arms. Hearing her address Cara as her mom, blew his senses off. Was it what he was too scared to hope? Was she his baby girl? One look at her features indicated the obvious.“Cara, what’s going on?” he asked, looking dazed. His glance went toward his mom as well as Lucas’s happy face.Cara took Marianne from Lucas and held her to her chest with relief. “I’m so glad that you both are safe, Liam. I really don’t have words to thank you for what you’ve done. Come and give me a hug,” she said, holding out her other arm to him. Liam colored a little and gave her a brief hug. He was a grown-up and didn’t need hugs and kisses!“I’m a teenager already, Cara. It’s my
Cara couldn’t miss the look of intense lust in his eyes as she approached him. It had been almost fourteen months since they last were together. The outcome of their heated moment was happily playing and gurgling beside them, oblivious to the undercurrents passing between them.“It’ll take months to heal. I don’t think I’ll survive till then,” said Marcus with an eye roll.“You’ve survived a year, haven’t you? So what’s in a month?” chuckled Cara, sitting beside him. However, Marcus didn’t have any plans to wait as his arm went around her shoulders and he planted a kiss on her neck. Cara’s body trembled with need, a feeling she hadn’t experienced in a year. “Marcus, our baby is staring at us,” she whispered breathlessly, her cheeks burning with embarrassm
