You and I

She was bent beside Jarrod’s car, hurling her guts out. Lolita was hoping that her fear, anger and disgust would be able to leave in the thirty minutes she decided to dedicate to herself. She didn’t have to play that pregnancy card. Why did she do that? Was that the only escape route she could have used? Why does she really do anything? God, if only the ground would swallow her and never spit her out.

She straightened and brushed her hair back. She wasn’t feeling any better, but at least the wind was in her air and she could pretend that she was back at the island, just enjoying the plain air.

An arm struck out and handed her a bottle of water. She heaved a deep sigh and took it, grateful to have something that would wash out her emotions. She drank deeply and then pushed her hair back again.

“Thanks, babe,” she said, closing the caps.
