Jarrod opened the door, exhausted yet excited for the results that would be presented to him.It wasn’t like he trusted Tessa, but she was fucked up enough for him to let her be. He wanted her to have control sometimes, to feel what it was like to have power. The intoxicating, strong urge for power must surely attract her as it did him. He was simply giving her that chance.

So when he opened the door to their hideout that hot afternoon with two packs of hot, delicious food he was planning to settle in and enjoy, he did not expect to see Tessa sobbing profusely on the stairs. He locked the door behind him and set the wrapped food on the table, confused.
