When I got off the phone with the President I was getting a coffee in the kitchen when Jackson walked in and leaned against the bench next to me. "How bad is it?" Jackson asked. "The President is pissed. He's pissed at us because we haven't done anything. He's the one that bombed the damn town and we're the ones to blame for it." I yell. "Taylor. It's not your fault. We know that it's not your fault. There's not much we can do until we find where the bastard is hiding." Jackson says. "And we don't know where that is. We don't know that he's in Richmond's pack. We don't know much more than them. They've got the equipment to find out where Carter is. We don't. We have to travel by foot as wolves to scent him out and that's not even a guarantee if he's nowhere around here." I say. And Jackson stopped me from what I'm doing and he hugged me. "It's alright. I know how frustrating this is. And that bastard had no right to call you and yell at you for it. He could have told us about
I sat there staring at the note from Carter and I did first think of throwing it away. But I decided to put it in the cupboard drawer. I was trying to figure out when he was able to sneak in and put that note on the computer. But I figured that it had to be the night before. He was still finding his way in whenever the hell he wanted to. And that was getting me a little worried with my kids being in the house. He could do whatever he wanted because we obviously didn't hear him coming in. I ordered an increased patrol presence around the packhouse. Meaning, there were men to be standing guard outside the packhouse at all times. I wasn't going to allow him to get in again. Not with my babies in the house. And then there was Aria and Edward. And she was about to have her little one. They were living with us again, on the first floor. Which means they were very close to this guy last night and they still didn't hear anything. It was pretty scary that werewolves weren't woken to an intru
JACKSON POV As soon as I got the word that our pack had been attacked, I aborted the mission and we ran straight back. We didn't stop for anything. Our wolves pounding paws running along the forest could have been heard for miles. We made it back in record time because I knew that this whole thing had been a trap. It was an ambush and they were seriously outnumbered. But when I arrived back, I wasn't prepared for what I saw. It was a slaughter. The forest near the border wasn't anything I had ever seen before. There were dead vampires everywhere, along with wolves. They got the better of us, just like we got the better of them. There were definitely no winners in this scenario. I shifted back and opened my bag and put on a pair of shorts and I saw Ethan standing by the pile of dead vampires. And just behind us, were the dead werewolves. They would be given an honorable funeral. The vampires were going to be burnt in the nearest clearing. "They came out of nowhere. We weren't ex
I had been following that road for about half an hour without turning off anywhere when something hit my nose. I picked up Taylor's scent again. I sniffed the air and tried to find which direction it was headed and it was on the other side of the road. Leading straight into the woods again. So I ran through the tree line and started following the scent. And that's when I came across a car. Just one car that was sitting on a dirt road. The doors were open and I looked inside to find no one in it. But Taylor's scent was really strong in the car. She'd definitely been in it. But if no one else was in the car, then they had taken her out of it. So I started running frantically through the woods trying to find her. I knew that they wouldn't be stupid enough to stop this close to our pack. Maybe she managed to escape the car and they were chasing her through these woods. There were so many things going through my mind and my wolf, Bronx, was getting more and more anxious the longer we c
"Wow. Taylor." I yelled. And she froze where she was. I could see her shaking and she looked like she was in a bit of shock at first but she dropped the branch when she recognised me. "Jackson." She finally said. And I saw her relax a little and I grabbed her closer to me and hugged her to me as tight as possible. "What the hell happened?" I asked. "They got me in the basement. My powers didn't work when I tried to fight back. They dragged me out of the basement and into the car. But I could feel something happening in the car. I managed to distract them long enough for me to jump out of the car. I've been running ever since." She explained. And I pulled her even closer. I mind linked the warriors and told them that I found Taylor and that we needed back up. There were going to be more vampires near us. They were looking for Taylor and they weren't going to stop looking. They would kill me to get to her. So we definitely needed back up. Taylor and I stayed where we were until
TAYLOR POV The following morning when I woke up in the hospital bed Hope was asleep next to me and Wyatt was lying next to me but he was awake. He was just lying there watching the TV. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust and Wyatt saw me stirring and he put the remote down and he climbed over me to see if I was awake, because my back was turned to him. "Morning baby." I said to him. "Hi mommy. I've been waiting for you to wake up." Wyatt says. "I'm sorry sweetie. Mommy was really tired." I say. "Daddy is snoring in the chair." He says. And I rolled over and looked over Wyatt to see Jackson sitting very uncomfortably in a chair beside the beds. So I grabbed a piece of paper from the cupboard next to me and I rolled it up and threw it at his head. Wyatt started laughing and then we laid down and pretended to be asleep again when Jackson woke up. "Ha ha. Very funny. Who threw that?" Jackson asked, standing up. "Mommy did." Wyatt says. "You little dobber." I say. And Wyatt
The noise in the dining room was starting to cause a bit of commotion so Jackson ran around and closed all the doors and locked them so that no one could see what was going on. He came back around next to me and kneeled down beside me, trying to get through to me. "Taylor. Please baby. You need to calm down." Jackson says holding my hand. "I'm trying to. I'm trying to stop it. I don't know what's wrong with me." I say. "It's only because you're upset about the warriors. And I don't blame you. You have every right to be upset about them. But they were not your fault. They were doing their job and they died with honor." He says. "I ordered them to the packhouse." I say. "I know. But if they weren't at the packhouse then they would have been in the battle and still could have died. We lost a lot of warriors in that battle." Jackson says. "And I just hid away in the shelter." I say. "You had to. Look at what they did to you when you came out. You didn't have a choice. You can't
I didn't recognise any of the vampires. None of them were there when they attacked our pack and kidnapped me. They were all staring at us, knowing full well who we were and then they started smirking. Thinking that this was their chance to get me and score brownie points with Carter. But they couldn't have been more wrong. As the vampires started charging at us, we started charging back at them. We clashed with a thunderous noise and they were attacking from all directions. But we had werewolves facing all directions. So they weren't having much luck trying to take what they wanted. I was fighting off one vampire when another one jumped on me back and I was trying to shake her off while the one in front of me was trying to contain me. I didn't know how they could tell that I wasn't Jackson. We were identical when we were wolves. Even our eyes were black as wolves, so they couldn't tell by eye color or anything like that. It was baffling to me. But then I looked over and they wer
