A resounding slap landed on Natasha's cheek. She had just being slapped by her father, "you disgraceful daughter! How did you get pregnant? Huxley said he had never laid with you." Huxley was her ex fianceé, the bastard who cheated on her.
Natasha didn't know how her father found out she was pregnant. Apart from the doctor that already knew, she hadn't revealed it to anyone yet.
Holding her burning cheek that had just been slapped, her father, Mr. Lewis, continued, "you have brought shame to me. Did you know how much we stand to benefit if you get married to the Powell's family. Huxley was infact the second son of the Powell's family. The Powell's family were one of the upper class families in Leaf City. And they are widely known for their prominence and wealth.
"Dad, I caught Huxley having sex with one of his female employee," Natasha defended herself.
"And so?" Lewis asked irritatedly, "men are polygamous in nature, that's not a big deal. It's not as if he cancelled the engagement between you two."
Lewis further added, "Why didn't you tell me after you caught him having sex with his staff, why did you go ahead and have sex with someone else? Does two wrongs make a right?"
Natasha was stupefied at the words coming out of her father's mouth. How could her father say such! Has he be cheating on her mother too since he believed that men are polygamous in nature. Thought he was very faithful to her mother?
Before Natasha could utter another word, the door opened and Natasha saw two women walk in. One was in the age range of her late mother while the other was just as young as her.
Natasha watched in horror as his father's angry face dessipated into a calm one, he went to welcome both women and with the way he welcomed the woman who was in the same age range as her late mother, one could tell they had something going on.
"Dad, who are they?" Natasha couldn't hide her curiosity.
"Oh! I'm Zara by name and here is your stepsister, Ruby," Zara chirped in before Lewis could respond.
"I don't have any stepsister." Natasha's family had been a nuclear family. A father, a mother and her. So she couldn't relate when Zara was claiming that one young lady is her step-sister.
"Oh yes, you do!" Her father, Lewis spoke. "I've been keeping an affair with Zara secretly for a long time. And now that your mother is dead, I have permitted her and my daughter to come live with me."
"What!" Natasha's heart broke into pieces, her eyes immediately got labelled with tears. "How... could you?" She cried.
"I already told you it's men's nature. It's the harsh reality of life." Lewis spoke without regret. "Go and find Huxley and apologize to him. Tell him you will abort that nonsense in your belly. The engagement must go on."
"To go and beg the man that cheated on me?" Natasha was enraged. She could literally feel hatred replacing the love and respect she used to have for her father. Her father didn't even mourn her mother's death. It's barely two months that her mother had died and here was her father, bringing in another woman and her daughter home.
"If you don't do as I've said, I'll renounce you publicly as my daughter and you know what that means, it will be impossible for you to build a career for yourself in this city anymore." Lewis threatened.
Is this really her father? It was hard for Natasha to believe that her father could behave in this manner. He even threatened to renounce her as his daughter!
"Sweetheart," Zara called on Lewis, leaning very close to him, she added, "she's just a kid, please don't be too harsh on her."
"Dad, stepsister is still mourning her mother, she's not mentally stable yet, if you are too hard on stepsister, her fragile heart will break." Ruby, Zara's daughter spoke.
Lewis received a phone call at that moment and answered it, after having a very brief conversation with the person on phone, she said to Zara and Ruby, "set your luggage in any of the rooms and feel comfortable here, okay? I'll be back later in the day." Then he hugged both Zara and Ruby.
Shooting an angry look at Natasha, he said, "you better do what I want or I'll make your life a living hell." Then he walked away.
Natasha's heart shattered even more and she burtsed into more tears. First, her fiancé cheated on her and then her mother died. Then she got pregnant for an irresponsible man and now, her father brought another woman home, telling her to go and beg Huxley and even threatening to disown her as his daughter. What greater misery can can befall someone?
Natasha suddenly heard a outburst of laughter and when she cleaned the tears blurring her vision, she noticed it was Zara laughing. She squinted her lean eyes in surprise, not understanding the purpose of their laughter.
"If you know what is good for you, you carry your luggage from here and leave." Zara said.
"This is my father's house, you don't tell me what to do." Natasha shot back in anger.
Zara scoffed, "How did you think your father found out you were pregnant?"
Natasha looked at her curiously as if expecting her to explain what she just said.
"I've had eyes on you for so long. Let me be blunt, I arranged the death of your mother and I also made your doctor confess what you met him for."
"What!" Natasha screamed in anger, "you murdered my mom, you witch!"
"I'm growing old and it looks like your mother will never die. Yet I need to move into this Mansion. Your mother had been sick for so long, I only ended her pain." Zara said mischievously, "just so you know, I've convinced your father you aren't his biological daughter and that your mother is a cheap slut."
"He won't believe that." Natasha said swiftly but deep down, she began to understood why her father suddenly started acting strange towards her. Was it because he didn't believe she was his daughter anymore.
"Dear, all I'm saying is, if you want to live long, leave this house," Zara smirked evily and then made a gestured to Ruby. Natasha watched as both women walked in.
She fell slowly to her knees, covered her face with her palm, sobbing hard. All her sorrows came crashing on her. She felt as if the weight of the entire world was on her. She kept crying and sobbing aggressively, clenching her fist tightly even as
she absorbed the pain coursing through her spirit, soul and body.
Eight months later, sweats covered Natasha's body, she had been laboring in the maternity ward for more than three hours, yet she had been unable to deliver a baby. According to the scan she had done months ago, it had been revealed that she had two babies on the inside of her. She was tired and frustrated. Being in labor for more than three hours is definitely not what anyone would wish for. "Ma'am, are you sure you don't want to do Cesarean section? It will be easier to get the babies out that way," the female doctor advised for the umpteenth time. "No, I'll deliver them this way," Natasha insisted. Her mother had told her she delivered her through ceserean section but that since then, she was not able to deliver any other child again. Although Natasha didn't know if the CS was the exact thing that stopped her mother from getting pregnant, she still didn't want to take chances. She didn't want the babies she was about to deliver to be her last. Just barely five minutes later, wi
After Natasha had finished using the toilet, she deliberated on whether to go to the emergency ward and treat the man. But what if they find out that she's not the 'doctor Violet' they mistook her for? Natasha knew for sure that Modern science can't fully heal the man, the best it can do is to stabilize his condition, only acupuncture method can permanently cure the man of his illness. She had learnt ancient healing method from the old blind man she lived with at Crying-sun. Natasha summoned courage and went to the emergency ward. On getting there, she realized that the man's condition had worsened so she quickly approached the man and began to make use of the needles. The nurses couldn't help but whisper amidst themselves. "Since when did doctor Violet start practicing acupuncture medicine, this method better not send Mr. Pushkin to his early grave." "Then her career will be doomed. She's already too proud for my liking. Taking such a risk on Mr. Pushkin is suicidal. I'm sure Mr.
Natasha began the process from the beginning again, unlike before when the man's eyes opened instantly, it took more than forty seconds before the old man coughed his way back to live. When he opened his eyes again, he said to Natasha, "you are my savior, thank you and I'll reward you." Natasha smiled, "don't bother, sir. I'm only helping." Seeing that the man was trying to stand, she spoke, "please relax, sir. The pin will be removed in another fifteen minutes and then you can stand and be able to do whatever you wish to do." "Really? I haven't being able to stand and walk in months." Mr. Pushkin said. Gratitude was written all over the man's face. The old man couldn't wait to stand. Fifteen minutes went by quickly and then, Natasha carefully removed the pins and helped the old man up. The old man stood and walk to the surprise of everyone present in the ward. Even Violet was shocked. She has no believe in pseudoscience. She didn't believe anything outside of science but seeing th
Dmitry alongside his ten regular escorts walked inside the ward that Elianor's kids were. "Are you the miracle Doctor?" Asked Dmitry. The woman seated between the twin stood, she recognized Dmitry at once. What is the demon of leaf city doing here? The most powerful man in the city standing before her on a day like this has to be a dream. The woman pinched herself secretly and forced out a smile, "yes...yes." At Dmitry's gesture, the door opened and two officials from the Civil Bureau stepped in with a marriage contract. They went ahead and placed the papers before the woman, "Cause of Mr. Dmitry's influence, you need not bother to come to the Bureau. Here's the marriage agreement, all you need to do is to provide us a passport photograph and put your signature here. Then you are officially Mr. Dmitry's wife." The woman thought she was dreaming. Her heart leaped for joy but it was also palpitating. She quickly brought out her purse and brought out a passport photograph then handed
At the most gigantic mansion in Leaf City, Mr. Pushkin sat on a soft cushion in the forth living room. He was impatiently waiting for his grandson. Soon, Dmitry walked in, his male personal assistant, Yuri entered with him. For they grew up together. "Grandfather," Dmitry greeted and went to sit. Yuri walked up to Mr. Pushkin and handed over the marriage certificate of Dmitry and the miracle Doctor to him after which he went to sit on a random seat, both of their attentions were set on Mr. Pushkin. Mr. Pushkin could be seen focusing his absolute attention on the marriage certificate, his old eyes bore seriously through his custom made glasses. After seeing that all necessities had been done on the marriage certificate, he placed it beside him, a beautiful smile now plastered on his face. "You have done well, Dmitry." Dmitry only nodded. "I'll take my leave now." He was about to stand when Mr. Pushkin quickly spoke. "Bring her over for dinner tomorrow." Dmitry paused, staring at h
While Natasha was waiting at the receptionist, she called the nanny overseeing her kids in order to ask about her kids, "hello, how are my kids doing?" "They are sleeping at the moment, ma. Although someone is currently knocking, I'm going to see who it is." "Don't. Don't even dare. Just pretend you aren't home, okay?" Natasha asked. "Is there a problem, ma?" "Not at all. Just do as I've said." Natasha then ended the call. She didn't care who the person knocking at the door of her house is. For all she cares, that person or persons could be from her father. Pavel had told her to wait for ten minutes, eight minutes had now passed. Precisely two minutes later, the receptionist who had just finished receiving a call said to Natasha, "Mr. Pavel said you may come upstairs." Natasha nodded and stood. Soon, she entered the elevator, she was about to press the close button when she saw two men walking directly towards the elevator that she was. One was about 6.5 ft tall, he was slim an
Dmitry, standing at the top balcony of the Pushkin's mansion, watched as the ambulance quickly took his grandfather away from the compound of the villa. "I thought that miracle doctor had permanently cured him of his illness?" Yuri, who was standing beside him answered, "perhaps, the healing isn't fully done. Shall I immediately send for the miracle doctor and order her to go to the hospital to treat Mr. Pushkin?" "Do that," Dmitry said with an aching heart. "This miracle doctor better find a solution to grandfather's sickness."Yuri at that moment had already placed a call across to Ruby and it had been answered. "Please go immediately to Virgio hospital, Mr. Pushkin is seriously sick and needs your attention." Ruby on the other end shivered in fear, for she had no knowledge of medicine. How would she treat Mr. Pushkin? Before she could even utter a word, Yuri already hung the call up. Ruby quickly went to meet Zara, her mother who was at that moment in the living room of the Iva
Meanwhile, Yuri received a call from Kenji while himself and Dmitry were on their way to Virgio's hospital. After the call had come to an end, Yuri said to Dmitry, "one of our low level men in the underground kidnapped a twin that are less than two months old. This isn't in our codes of honour. Should we ignore it or take action against this person?" "Kidnapping two months old baby? That's gross. Deal with the men and ensure the babies are safely returned to their parents," Dmitry said. "By dealing with them, you mean exterminating them? Cause that's the written punishment for anyone who commits this particular offense?" Yuri asked to be sure. "Leak what they did to our friends in the police." Dmitry commanded. "Got it. I'll ensure the babies are safely returned." Yuri said. Soon, their car came to a halt at the underground garage of Virgio's hospital. As soon as Dmitry stepped down, Yuri quickly walked up to him and spoke, "it was said that the babies are having serious temperat
