"Are you sure you're okay now?" Gavin asked me as soon as I got out of his bathroom with my already dried clothes from yesterday on me.
"Yeah. I think I'm good Gavin. I think it's better for me to rest at home. Also, my sister would be waiting for me, she's alone at home." I said to him and he just nodded.
"Okay, let's go?" He asked and I nodded at him.
The two of us went out of his apartment, we walked through the hallway and I have a nagging feeling that we were being watched. I turned around looking for anyone around, but I saw no one, so I started walking again. I then felt a swoosh of air from behind me and then heard the sound of a door closing. I turned but I didn't catch a glimpse of where it came from.
"What is it Cath?" Gavin asked.
"It's nothing. I just think I heard something." I answered him and started walking again, towards the elevators. We went down to the basement parking and approached an unfamiliar sports car. I guess
Focusing on doing your work is hard enough without your co-workers constantly stealing glances at you. I could hear all of them talking in hushed tones when my face was buried in my screen, but the moment I lift my head up, all of them would stop andpretend to be doing something else. "Let's have lunch." Andrea suddenly appeared behind my cubicle. These are the times that I'm absolutely grateful that I'm working at the same company as my best friend. I nodded at her and saved all my files before following her to the elevators. We got in the elevator and thankfully, we were the only two riding it down. "You sure you can make it through the rest of the day?" She asked as soon as the doors closed in. "I think so. No memo from the admin yet. I don't know if it's a good sign. I'm just worried about how Gavin's doing." I confessed to her and my surprise, she actually smiled at me, for the first time today. "You're having a hard time yourself, but
"This meeting is adjourned. Thank you for coming." Ms. White said as she ended the meeting. I left the meeting room with Gavin in dismay. I am on force leave as long as takes for this issue to clear up. Gavin tried to have the decision overturned, but they were already decided. I can't say that I haven't expected to be punished for it but I didn't think it would be this much. I know they did this to show that they have no favoritism in the company, but I am still devastated. "I'm really sorry about this Cath." He said to me and I just smiled weakly at him. "It's okay Gavin. None of this is your fault, to be honest. You were just being helpful." I said before leaving him and returning to the office. It's a good thing that it was already past 5 o'clock when the meeting ended. The office was almost empty, with Andrea being the only person in it. She was waiting in my cubicle with her things, just fidgetting away with anything she can get his
My mom did as she promised and immediately sent the details to me the very next morning. I know it was a rushed decision, but that was the only way I can think of. Another week passed and it was the day of the engagement meeting and me and my sister will be attending it. The meeting was set for lunch so, I spend the whole morning with Zab as we fixed each other's hair and make-up and put on the outfits that we agreed on wearing. And before we know it, we were now, in front of the gate of our family home, where it will be held. The gates slowly opened and I can't help but feel a bit jittery and nervous because of what was about to happen. "Are you sure you want to do this, Zoe?" She asked me for the hundredth time since I told her my plan the next morning after my late-night call with our mom. "I'm sure." I said to her and drove into our estate. It feels a bit weird standing in front of the house I grew up in and left just a couple of years
"I guess we'll be going Zen, Ceasar. Thank you for the wonderful lunch." Mrs. Landers said as they said their goodbyes after a well-prepared lunch by my parents."We'll get going to mom, dad. Still have lots to do and Zab still has an afternoon class." I said, wanting to get out of there. It's already been a long day, and I just want to jump on my bed right now."Zoe, can I borrow your car? I'm running late." Zab asked and before I could answer, Grayson, interjected."I can give you a ride home, Zoe. So you don't have to circle around." He suggested. I don't know what's going on inside his mind and it got me a bit scared."He's right, Zoe. No need to waste fuel by running circles." Mrs. Landers said. I guess I have no choice."Sure. Here Zab." I answered giving Zab the keys to my car."And you can ride with us, Gallan. Let these two have some alone time." Mrs. Landers continued. I felt a bit awkward about what she just said but, now, I don't
I was right, it was a strange meal. Gavin was silent the whole time as Gabby placed Grayson in a full-on interrogation. Grayson on the other hand is seemingly answering her questions with gusto and I hate him for doing that. "I'll make sure that you'll hear from HR as soon as possible." Gavin said to me before walking away towards his car. "Jealousy doesn't look good on him." Gabby said, rolling her eyes at her brother. "Anyway, it was nice meeting you, Grayson. Hope to see you soon. And Cath, make sure to call me, okay?" I nodded at her. "Yeah! Yeah! Your brother is waiting for you." I said to her, shooing her away. "I better get going, he's a bit in a bad mood, I guess." She said as she ran off to her brother's car. "So, you're telling me that you don't know if that guy likes you." Grayson said as soon as we were left alone. I looked at him, confused about what he was saying. He let out a deep chuckle and then ruffled my hair before
The three of them looked confused as they entered, but when they saw both me and Gavin inside with the higher-ups, they avoided our gaze and followed Ms. White slowly to the remaining empty chairs. "I should have known." I heard Gavin whisper beside me. "Why are they here?" I asked him. "I have an idea, but I'm not yet sure. Let's just wait." He whispered back, so I just dropped the topic. "Now that we are all here, let's start." Ms. De Lara said as soon as the two sat down. "Do all of you know why you have been called here today?" both me and Gavin nodded but the two just remain silent. "Okay, first things first. Ms. Aragon, on behalf of the company, we are very sorry for the inconvenience that this matter has given you over the past week and we are really happy to have you back."Ms. Gomez said as she started the meeting. "On the other hand, the three of you have some explaining to do." Mr. Tanner said. "Hold up Luis,
The song started and I couldn't believe his choice of song. It was a love song, more appropriately, a confession song. I knew this because it was the same song I sang for my first crush, Caleb when we were in high school. It's been a while since I heard this song. Gosh, the nostalgia. Our attention was then all focused on Gavin as we waited for the first verse to start. And when it did, my jaw almost hit the floor. And I wasn't the only one, I looked around and saw that everybody, except Gabby, was in awe as Gavin continued singing. His deep voice was so smooth that he can pull off the song so well, even the high notes. He sang with so much emotion that I can't help but be carried away by his singing. It makes me think that he means every word and that he's really confessing his feelings to someone, right at that moment. I couldn't take my eyes off of him and when he reached the bridge of the song, my eyes caught his. He held my gaze as he continued singing,
After a few hours of working, I heard a lot of buzzing and whispering coming from all over the office. I looked up from my computer to see what the commotion was all about and saw that Belle and Margareth just returned from their meeting with HR. I followed them with my eyes, then suddenly, Belle met my gaze. If looks could kill, I would definitely be dead right now.She glared at me for a while before turning her back on me and started rummaging through her desk as our co-workers surrounded them. I got back to work to avoid any more conflicts with them but still, I could feel that I was being watched. I tried zoning out and just ignoring them, but I can't say that I wasn't bothered at all. I was so focused on my work that I didn't even notice that Andrea was already beside me. "They're leaving early." She whispered under her breath as she leaned closer to me. "What happened to them?" I asked her. "They wouldn't tell anybody." She answered. I slo
