Aliyah POV

I drove home from the restaurant and pulled over at the parking lot, stepping out of the car and dragging myself toward the entrance door.

Nancy was already in the living room by the time I walked inside, so she ran into my arms and hugged me tightly.

"Welcome, Mommy. I've missed you so much," she pouted her lips, kissing my cheeks as I squatted down to her level.

"I've missed you too, baby. How was school today?" I asked her, trying to act like nothing was happening, but deep inside me, I was bleeding from the pain that bastard has caused me.

"It was fine. Mommy, did you cry?" My heart skipped when Nancy asked me. I was going to ask myself how she knew about it, but we've spent years together and this little girl knew me more than the back of her palm, so I wasn't surprised.

"Are you ok?" She asked, looking worried.

"Hmm. I'm fine. Mommy is just stressed from work," I replied to her, stroking her hair, and she slowly nodded her head.
