CHAPTER 42–IVY

Once Alice went back to work, Ivy had new things to occupy her mind. It wasn’t what she expected to get out of the conversation. But at least she had a few friendly shoulders this time to cry on and compare notes, so she didn’t become that woman who others would use until she wasn’t of use to them anymore. She wasn’t a dishrag to be used, wrung out, and left in a pile to go moldy or hung out to dry for the next person.

Get revenge, give as good as she got. But how did she do that without Geoffrey finding out? Sure, she could stop picking up after them. Ivy’s problem was how did she explain what she was doing to Geoffrey, because he’s surely pick up on it and question her. Again, she would look like a terrible parent.
