I stared at my dad who seemed to be more anxious than I was, "what's wrong dad? You couldn't just have called me here not to say anything again"

"I'm coming, I just don't know how you'll react to it."

I had a feeling he had done something bad, like really terrible, and I wondered what that was...

I had no time to process what he just said. The coffee I had swallowed came back out of my mouth as if it was bitter, and it splashed on the table in between us.
