Chapter 48:- Alone

I was sitting near a window watching the city light from the room. It had been a week and Cassius had not shown up since our wedding night. I wondered if he would come or not. If he kept on ignoring me like that I would not be able to get in touch with Luther and Noelle. Biting into my lower lip I grabbed my phone and called Cassius. As usual, he picked it up in two rings and greeted me with loving words.

“Hey, beautiful, what’s up?” His voice was cheerful and soothing. I liked it when he called me that.

“I just had dinner. What about you?” I asked him.

“I was in a meeting and heading home.”

Home!

That place was not his home.

“Are you not coming over?”

“Winnie,” he sighed and I heard the click of the car door in the background. “I’m busy now.”

“It’s been a week. I miss you.”

“I’m also missing you but I really have to sort things out first.”

"What are things?"

“I’d prefer not to talk about it,” he spoke sharply, making me frown.
