Amaris froze as the voice continued to speak. "It's ok dear, I won't bite." To this there was a raucous laughter from several people. Amaris knew that she had been seen and had no choice but to come back to the railing. She turned back and stepped back into the room. The figure that had been sitting on the thrown moments ago, was no standing and looking straight at her. His arm was raised to her beckoning her to come down. Looking around the room Amaris saw that all of the faces were now looking at her. Her eyes were immediately drawn to the one face that she knew she would recognize. Alexis was now looking up at her. He looked defeated. He face was cruised and battered, and his mouth was bloody. Amaris instictively wanted to look away, when her eyes were drawn to the man beside him. At first she did not think that she knew him. He too had been beaten. He had blood that had run down the side of his head and face from a wound. The man winced abviously in pain holding hi
"You can call me Reggie." He says with a waggle of his eyebrows. Amaris mouth fell open in shock. Here she was face to face with the man who had been hunting her. The one who had turned her life upside down. Just who the hell does he think he is? The King started to walk toward Amaris. She stood her ground and glared at him. "So you are the one that has been hunting me all this time. Why?" She had so many more questions. Why have you killed so many people? Why are you holding all of these people? What are you planning to do with them? What are you planning to do with me? She knew if she was patient she would get her answers. The King walked beside her and put his arm around her. "Well of course. You, my dear, are the chance of a life time. I simply could not pass you up." He began to walk her forward toward the dais. He continued on as he walked with her slowly "I must admit your parents had me fooled. They disappeared. I had no idea where they were. Then their
Amaris took a step back in shock. The King reached for her again, but Amaris ducked under his outstretched arm and ran to Anna. She gave her a huge hug and looked her up and down. She then turned to Taji and did the same. She stepped back and nodded to the soldiers that were in their group, while secretly checking to make sure that they were not injured. Anna reached and grabbed Amaris' elbow. "I'm sorry Mari, they snuck up on me and once they had me Taji surrendered under threat of them hurting me, and then the rest did as well." Anna leaned in pretending to give Amaris another hug and she whispered into her ear. "We got them all out before they found us." was all she said. Amaris felt a great relief. The prisoners were gone and hopefully on their way to safety. The Kings voice boomed from behind Amaris. "Well, now that we all have had a happy reunion, lets get on with the main attraction. Shall we?" He had walked half way to Amaris, Anna and the group. The guards be
Amaris was shocked. She looked backwards and saw Anna trying to wake Taji. The soldier that was trying to help hold him up was using his other hand to try and tap the sides of his face to bring him around. The King gave Amaris a little jolt to bring her attention back to him. "Nevermind about them my dear, they will be just fine once they get themselves under control." Amaris found that she had walked back up front and was now standing next to Sveta and Lyle. Sveta had a haute put out look on her face while Lyle had a cruel smile on his face. A look Amaris had never seen on his always kind face before. It ruined his good looks. The King noticed that once again Amaris' attention was not on him and looked at Lyle with a frown on his face. With a huff, the King let go of Amaris and walked over to his throne. "Let's dispense with this needless charade, shall we?" He said looking right at Lyle who seemed to be pouting. Sveta finally turned and looked at the King. "About time
Amaris looked between the King and the man on the floor. She was not sure if she had heard him right. Amaris pulled out of the King's grasp before he could restrain her, and stepped forward. She bent down and gently put a hand on the man's shoulder "Lyle?" She said softly. The man looked up and for the first time Amaris could see his face. Like many of the other men here, he had been beaten badly, but his beating was different. It was clear that his face and chest had deep lacerations. Amaris was shocked at the state of him and horrified and disgusted at what they had done to him and the state that he was forced to live in. If it weren't for the eyes, Amaris would not have known him. The momentary hope in those eyes disappeared when he misinterpreted the look of horror and disgust on Amaris' face. Amaris briefly wished that her powers would work in here. Although she had not tried them in this room. Amaris put both hands on Lyle's arm as he turned away and became a heap on
The King turned right back around and walked over to the guard at the end who seemed to be in charge. At least he seemed to have the most colorful ribbons on his chest. Amaris looked around, but there was no one to help her. She reached down and grabbed Lyle under his arm and heaved. She had not realized how heavy he was. She pulled him up with everything that she had. She felt like a weight lifter getting her legs under her to heave both her weight and Lyle's to a standing position. Once in a standing position she found that he was heavy, and seemed to be in some sort of stupor, whether from the beatings he recieved, lack of food, or for some other reason she was not sure. She looked around at the surrounding guards, and saw Anna. Anna looked around at the guards at the walls and nodded her head to Amaris as they locked eyes. Amaris took a tentative step toward Anna, and then another. Amaris took a quick look at the King who had his back to her and was unaware of what sh
The King stood and Sveta his daughter walked forward with him. The look on her face said she knew what was about to happen, and she was going to enjoy this. The look worried Amaris. The King walked down from the dais to the center of the cirlce that the guards had created. He looked at the group of prisoners in front of him and then turned around and looked at the group behind him. The King spun around one more time making Amaris dizzy looking at him. In a loud booming tone he began. "We have our two groups all set down here, but I think that our guests from the vampire relm will not be able to enjoy the show in their current spot. Let us give them better seats to enjoy the show. Come right down here." The King waved his arms as if he was directing air traffic. He pointed from them to the open space toward the back of the room. Everyone waited for the vampires to move from their alcove to the space at the back, facing directly opposite of the dais. The King stepped back t
Everyone in the hall stared at the guard waiting for something to happen. The silence was filled with a large metallic sound. One of the large frescos on the wall had started to move backwards. It was a huge door. Behind it was a large cavernous chamber that was dark and echoed like a cavern with all sorts of noises. Some sounding mechanical, and some sounded like animal noises. A large metal cage was being wheeled into the room. The guards that were already in the room had to move out of the way as well as the vampires. A second large cage was wheeled in right behind it. These long wheeled cages reminded Amaris of the type that you would see circus animals in when they are moved on a train, only these were much too large to fit on a train track. They were huge indeed. They were lined up end to end and took up most of the room. The prisoners were forced to spread into lines only two deep along the outside to be able to allow the guards to stay along the walls. The vampire
