“Mrs. Fairchild, may I have a word?” I asked, before she headed in to see Freya.

She looked at me hesitantly before nodding and following me into an office. I shut the door behind her and leaned against the desk. She looked nervous. It was clear to see that she felt that I held a grudge against her, but I did not. I was annoyed in the beginning when she interrupted the ceremony, but I understood where she was coming from.

“I’m not upset with you, I promise. You defended your daughter just as any mother should,” I assured her.

She looked surprised with my words, but she began to relax a little. I handed her a bottle of water which she gladly accepted.

“What can I do for you, Luna?” she asked softly.

Today was going to be hard on her, and I hated that fact. She did nothing wrong, but her daughter did. Freya would be sentenced for her crimes against this pack. It was not about me at this point. She dealt with Ezekiel and put this pack at risk. I did not know what her punishment
