Chapter 22: Fear

Ryder stood at the edge of the field, rain pouring down relentlessly, soaking him to the bone. He strained to see through the downpour, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of the figure he had been chasing. His heart pounded in his chest, his breaths ragged as he fought to control his racing thoughts.

And then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, the figure halted. In that split moment, Ryder's eyes locked onto a pair of piercing, intense eyes staring back at him - eyes that seemed to penetrate his very soul with another standing behind. The figure’s face was obscured by the darkness and the rain, adding an extra layer of mystery and fear to the encounter.

Ryder’s voice trembled as he called out, “Who are you? What do you want? Where is my brother?” Though his voice was barely audible over the deafening noise of the storm, he hoped that his words had reached the enigmatic figure before him.
