Chapter 36: Shadows of Betrayal

As the Guardians approached the source of the ominous light, their hearts pounded with a mixture of fear and determination. The air crackled with tension, and an oppressive sense of foreboding hung heavy upon them.

"We have to be careful," Cassia warned, her voice a mere whisper as they cautiously advanced.

Malachi nodded in agreement, his eyes narrowed with suspicion. "This feels like a trap," he muttered, his grip tightening on his weapon.

Elysia glanced nervously at the shadows that seemed to dance around them, her senses on high alert. "We can't let our guard down," she urged, her voice tinged with unease.

But just as they thought they had reached the source of the light, a figure emerged from the darkness, sending shivers down their spines.

"Who goes there?" Malachi demanded, his voice echoing off the chamber walls.

The figure stepped forward, its features obscured by the shadows. "It is I," a familiar voice replied, sending a chill down their spines.
