The day for the surgery arrived like a harsh wind.

Hazel was very unsure how to feel, the fact that the fate of her grandmother's continued existence would be determined this very day.

She held very tightly unto her hand by the hospital bed, clinging unto it for dear life.

She had already gotten used to the hospital smells, the blue and white colors all around and the sense of looming sadness in the air. Yet she very much longed to go home.

Even her grandma was tired of being cooped up all day. The lady was fond of taking walks in the evenings. She had more than once, expressed her desire to return home. Where the air was more homely, more familiar and less full of medicines, antiseptics and sky blue curtains and sheets.

"Everything will be fine." The woman assured, clasping her other hand over her daughters hand.
