Iyah was startled, as she did not expect him to agree just like that. Thankfully she immediately managed to get a hold of herself.  

“It does not matter. What matters is what I have to say-” Iyah paused as he moved closer to her.  He was so close to her now that she could already feel his body heat. His scent, mixed with alcohol, was intoxicating her as well, making her unable to move.  

He stopped a few inches from her, staring at her heatedly, before he spoke softly, “I wish you were more like Lia.”

The phrase took Iyah by surprise, among all the possible things she expected him to say, that one was the last and worst of all. In the darkest part of her brain, the triumphant sneer of her sister began to surface in her mind.

And perhaps because of the hormones of the pregnancy or because of the hurt in her heart, she began to cry inconsolably.
