CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX
"Your Majesty, please reconsider your decision!"
As Morrigan and Colfre expected there was an uproar in the court as she announces her intentions to adopt Rita and make her a princess of Hymir. The ministers were all taken aback and could only plead for the reconsideration of her intentions. She watches as the ministers all look confused and surprised etched in their eyes. "Please reconsider your decision, Your Majesty." The ministers repeated as they bow their heads in front of Morrigan simultaneously as urging the queen to reconsider her decision of adopting Rita. Taking chances that the queen will be open for reasoning to the fact that her decision could change the system of Hymir as a government. But they know the queen is resolute of her decisions, that only Colfre could help them change her mind, and with him not in the hall for them to plead they know that it will be a lot harder to persuade the queen.

Morrigan CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN
Days and weeks passed by in a blur. The gloomy days are now welcomed by the bright sun. Brightly shining and illuminating the Kingdom of Hymir. Morrigan didn't notice how the days goes by for she had shut herself in the palace, going back and forth of her office, then teaching Rita calligraphy, and taking care of Colfre who is now recuperating well. She had not taken any rest from the state affairs and she just found herself a time to sit by the tree in the garden, reminiscing of the past how she and her sister read books or sing folklore under the tree. Despite the weather slowly getting humid, Morrigan still wears clothes of dark and dull colors, if not a striking red dress like what she was wearing as she rests by the tree. With a black bodice hugging her body, and a tunic under her bodice. Giving it an illusion of flowy sleeves that drapes her arms. The hem of her dress is not as heavy as her usual skirts. Wearing fewer petticoats made her move freely and a lot of unconstraint.

Morrigan should have expected that a day of solace means that there will be a day that problems would come knocking on her door. But she didn't expect that the problem that would arrive will be bigger than the problem she handled in the borders and it will involve the peace talks of Hymir and its neighboring kingdom. She propped her arms on the armrest of the throne as she rest her head in her hand. The guards standing in front of her watched her anxiously as they report the news that had just arrived at them. And even with them wanting to dismiss themselves due to the evident irritation that grows in the queen's face they could only stand in front of her, their foreheads trickling with cold sweats. The silence in the room is bothering them that the queen did not even want to talk nor to break it. "What happened again?" "My Queen, please let me go to war." Morrigan paced back in forth in the middle of her grandiose chambers. Colfre had been trying to change her mind to let him go to war and the queen seemed to be set to go against him going into war. Exasperatingly brushing her hands on her raven hair. She heaved an exasperated sigh as she whisked facing Colfre who remained standing at a safe distance from the queen. Her eyes are bloodshot and shedding with tears. Trying so hard to hold everything in but as she looks and sees Colfre standing right in front of her all of her frustrations and worries resurfaces. "Colfre can't you hear yourself? You wanted to go to war when you aren't even fully healed!" Morrigan could feel her chest tighten as her voice echoed on the tall ceilings of the room. She had already told Colfre that she does not agree with him setting off to war but the guard and the queen seemed to be adamant about letting each other know their reasons for why

Morrigan's face leaned closer to Colfre, her breath warm and minty. Her scent of lavender is like the scent of spring and home. Lingering in Colfre's senses as her hand caresses his cheeks. Colfre stiffened under her touches. His hands clenching by the door of his chambers. Keeping himself composed under Morrigan's alluring touches and sweet voice. "Promise me that you will come back alive." Morrigan's voice is hushed as her nose brushes on his skin. Sending shivers to his body, every hair in his body rising. His jaws clench. Colfre could feel his heart hammering inside of him as Morrigan's hands slowly crept on his nape and hair. The Queen's eyes look at him with worry and adoration. Combing his ginger hair with her slender fingers. She marvels at the sight of Colfre's tall stature. His broad shoulder towers over her as she feels small under his intense gazes. Colfre remained silent, letting the queen touch him. But his whole body tenses under her warm touches

Colfre stiffened as Morrigan slowly drifts to sleep. His eyes looked down at the face of the woman in his arms as he covers his eyes with his other arm. He heard her clearly, he bit his lip as a pang of guilt arises in his heart. A bitter taste rose to his mouth. "I do not deserve your affection, Morrigan." Her warmth in his arms is just reminding him of the things that he should have put in his mind since the day he decided to enlist himself as a guard in the palace. He should have reminded himself of what could be the repercussions of his actions as he let his guard down. But the woman in his arms is also a reminder that despite the growing feelings he has for her within him they are not meant to be together, their status miles apart, and their values different from each other. "My Queen, The air is cold at night, please take care of yourself. Don't stay often on your balcony for you might catch a cold. Always drink a warm cup of tea and remind Princess Rita not to play till dusk. The situation here in the border is stabilized, neither camp made a move but we are all alert for the other camp had the upper hand in terms of the topography of the land. I hope the camellias arrived at you safely, they are lovely, aren't they? When I first laid my eyes on them by the borders I remembered you and how you love to prune your mother's beloved flowers. The night is agonizingly silent, Morrigan could hear her heartbeat in her ears. Curious if the maid tending to her could hear it, and if she can she wondered what would their thoughts be. Morrigan sat in front of her vanity as her hand clutched the key pendant on the necklace Colfre gave her. Holding it close to her heart, trying to calm herself as she slowly get lost in her thoughts. Wonder why she has not heard of any news from the border. No messenger bird had come to her nor a messenger from the camps reached for her. She have not heard from Colfre for weeks and an unsettling feeling started to make her heart heavy. The maid who was combing her hair watches her, the silence inside the room unsettling anyone who comes close to the queen. The sun rises on the horizon, mighty as it has always been. The cold breeze blows across the kingdom as a new day starts. However, behind the towering walls of the palace and in the grand chamber of the queen, Morrigan shrinks by the corner of her room as she rocks herself back and forth. Comforting herself from the things that haunt her. Her eyes are bloodshot and her tears stream on her face unceasingly. "He will be fine. He will come back alive," she muttered under her breath with her eyes wide in fear. Dark circles grew under her eyes as her long raven hair disheveled. Insanity is visible in her eyes. Like a ghastly lady hugging herself in a corner of the room that is enough to fit ten families from the border. Morrigan seemed to be so small in her room, however, she could feel how the cloud of fear grows within her. Making the room feel like it was smaller than it was.
