46. Using Portals
Serenity just learned something new about Jormungand today. Apparently he could travel wherever he wanted to go so long as there was a portal. She never gave a thought about the fact he could span worlds and what that meant, but she had mentioned flying. How long it was going to take to get to Las Vegas. Not exactly exciting for her, she’d spent the morning catching up on some requests. Even knowing that world ending beings were here, the rest of this reality was still moving on with normal lives. So she had to too.
He’d oddly sat on the bed eyes closed meditating while she worked. He didn’t respond to her when she asked things so she gave up and got some work done. She still needed to get paid, the world was still moving on even with what she was doing. She jumped when he spoke finally.

“Look, this place is not going to be easy.” She told him showing him what she had of the place. What she could dig up. She even got into the records. This was a den that had existed for a very long time. There were multiple types in there, not just demons. The entire place had levels that were set up, and based on the very limited intel they had people that could sense what others were. “If this place is with Surt or coming after mine, then it will be taken care of.” He commented, though it would be easier if he could be his actual size and just demolish the place. “As far as we know there is one demon for sure that knows anything. Antonio and this one he calls home, but he is working with Surt. So he may not be here, then what? At some point they are going to catch on, and with the ring you are at a disadvantage if they become ready for you.” She

Jor was staring at the back of her head as they walked however. She had this happier bounce to her step. A kind of chipper air to her as well and he frowned. He’d heard what she said about her suffering, the fact she was kept by demons. She even killed the one with cost to herself physically. Yet here she was happy with the agreement they just made, she had smiled a few times. How did she find life worth anything with what she had seen? How could she argue with him about it? What disturbed him more was what she said about his siblings. He wasn’t going to lose them like she said. Though he thought about it, he thought about what he felt for them. How long had it been since he’d willfully reached out to them? It had been a very long time until he felt Fenrir wake and Hel’s presence. Serenity got a lot done, and was keeping tabs on incidents going on. Things she needed to look for. Actually right now it was kind of nice, she was sitting in the shade here and he was gone back out in the water. She had no idea what had gotten into him. It wasn’t like he was a changed person, but since coming here two days ago he was definitely a little different. At least in demeanor. She was okay with that, they had gone back to the city that first night and he’d been silent. Almost brooding, but she was happy. It was great, she got an entire day. Jormungand watched from below where she was as she got out. He felt when she came into the water and had the urge to come over. He was just thinking, contemplating, trying to figure out just what were strong enough reasons to choose something else. What was a strong enough reason to fight against fate for? Watching all these people he wasn’t getting an answer. So when they went back to the room he’d watched her, trying to figure out just what was her reason. What was strong enough for her even with what she said, he wasn’t talking about being alive because that was how you were born. Born to survive, what made you want to participate in life? What made you smile, what was it that when your heart was broken made it beat again? All things he had no experience with. Serenity felt a little unsteady as they made their way back to the car. Actually she was surprised that he didn’t want to stay at the moment. She felt him close behind her, really close and she was hyper aware of him at the moment. She was also half thinking about what she just did, more than once. How had she caved so easily? She went from telling him no to sure fine do what you want. Serenity was confused inside at her own wants and desires in life. “How long do you want to stay here?” She asked breaking the silence. “In Las Vegas?” She glanced at him behind her, his gaze still looked darker. “As long as it takes, I will go for this den soon. I need to know where Surt is, and one there will know where he is. If not then where this Antonio is, who can lead me to him. If Surt is trapped like we have been then we have time.” Which pissed him off, w

“The downstairs is a gentlemen’s club.” She said putting her hair back, she let out a rush of air. Not exactly an environment she was comfortable in. He raised an eyebrow, he’d heard her tell him that before. However it hadn’t really registered until now that this was what they now called brothels or whore houses. Though she said not all of them had women that sold their bodies, just got paid to let people look at them. He doubted in a house of demons they weren’t selling themselves. “Best way through is the bar?” He asked. “Or an upper level deck.” Which he could easily jump too, but he was more likely to be attacked right away before getting information. “Correct.” She told him and she looked at the place. The sun was starting to sink, now was the best time with the light of day. “You sure you have the finesse to just talk?” She asked jokingly.
Mortal's choice 54. Dangerous Den
Jormungand walked up to the entrance, though there was a line outside of it at the moment. People paying a cover or something. Yeah he wasn’t standing in that line. He walked up to the bouncer and the man looked at him. He crossed his arms, he was shorter than Jormungand was but just as built. “Hey buddy, end of the line.” He said but was looking at Jormungand and his eye color, the aurora he had. This was a demon. “I’m not waiting in a line. I want to speak with Tanner.” He said and the man looked at him and then glanced toward another. “What business you have with him? What are you?” He asked and Jormungand met the demon’s gaze. Not black yet, but he wasn’t fooled. “I’m what’s going to kill you if you don’t let me through.” He seemed to think.
