Chapter 37 - The morning of

Zelena.

The pack house was alive with activity, she-wolves running back and forth and big burly men coming and going. Roe’s voice could be heard echoing through each room and hallway, calling out instructions and demands. I followed the sound towards the kitchen, the busy noise got louder and louder the closer I got. The kitchen was a maze of moving bodies and carts of food. I could hear Roe’s voice above all the others, but I couldn’t see her through the crowd of people.

“Roe” I called out, standing on my tippy toes. I don’t know why I bothered. With my short legs I’d need a step ladder to see over all these giants.

“Roe!” I called again with added volume,

“Zelena. What are you doing in here? You can’t be in here. Out!” she screamed over the rest of the noise.

“I just wanted to help” I yelled back,

“Not in here you won’t, now out”       

“But…”
