Shirley chuckled softly. "Mr. Stanford, you have quite the sense of humor. What have I done to deserve such praise?"

Stanford huffed. "Hmph."

Shirley continued, "Rather than say they changed because of me, it's more accurate to say time changed them. Even if I hadn't appeared, let me ask you this: were you certain that Keith would end up with Lillian? Were you sure Tina would obediently remain by your side, watching you tangled up with Lillian?"

Before Stanford could interject, Shirley cut in, "Let me finish before you argue."

Stanford fell silent immediately.

"Mr. Stanford, you are just too confident! I've never met a guy as confident as you. Keith gave up on Lillian six years ago. Otherwise, why would he date other girls? Before me, there was Rose. Mr. Stanford, you surely haven't forgotten about her, right? Even without me, there would still be Lucy, Lily, or someone else. No matter who appears, Keith isn't the same as he was six years ago. Naturally, Lillian isn't the same either.
