“How are you feeling?” I ask Dad as I help him into the wheelchair. It surely hurts seeing a man you know as the strongest look this pale. I know It’s my turn to protect him and I won’t stop at nothing or let anyone try to drag him down.

He turns his head and looks at me with a weak smile, "Getting better, son. Just need some time."

I push the wheelchair gently, guiding him through the living room as Joane passes me a cup of hot water which he’s supposed to take. "You did well in there," I commend him, trying to lift his spirits.

"Your wife... where is she?" he asks, as he looks around for her and I can’t help but shake my head.

“She’s at work, Dad. She’s a doctor who has other patients that need her too.” I respond as I hold the bridge of my nose.
