Chapter 7. Special Breakfast

Laura was stunned, her best friend silently watching someone from a distance. What exactly was going on with Nina? Laura returned to the figure that had captured her friend's attention. An arrogant and cold figure, ready to freeze anything more complicated than the ice at the North Pole.

"Mr. Nathan is handsome, isn't he? But unfortunately..."  Laura hung her words to provoke Nina.

"What?" asked Nina absentmindedly; the girl seemed to have just woken up. Laura chuckled, teasing Nina that she was interested in the iceberg. But Laura didn't expect her best friend to ask a question that almost made her eyeballs pop out.

"Ra, is Mr. Nathan married yet?" asked Nina casually.

"What?!" responded Laura in all her surprise, "Nina, you didn't take the wrong medicine, did you, Nin?"

Nina shook her head in confusion; what was wrong with her question? She explained the meaning of her question because she was curious about the boss's attitude; maybe he had problems at home or in his family, so he behaved like that.

Laura nodded; it made sense to Nina. It could be that the boss had a problem that he was covering up with his arrogant attitude.

"Hmm, I don't know about that either, Nin," Laura muttered quietly, "it seems like our boss's personal life is locked up tight, only certain people know about it."

"Certain people?" repeated Nina.

"Yeah, like his friends and family, but the employees... no one seems to know." Laura explained that she was one of the longest-serving employees in the office but had never heard any rumors about her big boss's problems.

"Uh, but there is one person who definitely knows all about Mr. Nathan," Laura said suddenly. Nina gave her a curious look. Laura sighed before mentioning a name that made Nina smile. "Miss. Emmy."

Both of them laughed; the robot woman certainly knew because she was Nathan's assistant, but don't expect to get any information from the mouth of the woman the employees called the robot woman.

Laura also warned Nina to be careful with her curiosity because she might fall in love with a man who, despite looking arrogant and cold, was very charismatic and handsome; he was one of the miracles of God's perfect creation.

Nina casually responded to her best friend's words and chuckled, but Laura looked at her thoughtfully.

"I'm serious, Nina. If you're really interested in Mr. Nathan, you're going to have some tough competition." Laura said in a worried and cautionary tone.

"What does that mean, Ra?" Nina asked curiously; she didn't know much about the office gossip.

Laura sighed and looked out the door. Hurriedly, the woman who had been walking was talking to Nathan. She was chasing Nathan, so she seemed in a hurry.

"That..." Nina did not continue her words; she looked at Nathan, who was listening to the woman talking before him.

"Yeah, that's Miss. Victoria, one of the senior managers in this company." Laura explained.

"Then...?" asked Nina, still watching the two people conversing not too far away.

"So? What kind of question is that, Nina?" Laura shook her head, "You know, Nin. Miss. Victoria is very interested in Mr. Nathan; she is trying to get Mr. Nathan to eliminate other girls who will become her competitors."

"Oh, I see, but I don't know, Ra." Nina replied innocently, making Laura pat her forehead.

Nathan, who was listening to Victoria, could feel the gaze of someone watching him; he turned his gaze into the café and caught a glimpse of Nina, who was staring at him. The man said something to Victoria and then turned to his room, followed by the assistant.

Victoria looked very upset and angry. She turned around, went into the café, and ordered a drink. Laura and Nina didn't feel free, and they were about to leave, but Victoria greeted them.

"I've just come in, why are you leaving?" she asked, annoyance still crossing her face, which was covered in thick makeup.

"Sorry, ma'am. We've finished our coffee," Laura said with a smile.

"Don't want more? Just order some, and I'll pay for it." The woman said casually, but her tone sounded cold.

"Sorry, ma'am. We have to finish the work that was delayed yesterday." Laura reasoned, knowing that if she stayed here with Victoria, she'd be the woman's outlet. Suddenly, Victoria looked Nina up and down.

"Are you a new employee?" she asked, looking at Nina, who nodded.

"How long has it been?" asked Victoria curiously.

"Seven months, ma'am," Nina said firmly.

Victoria again examined Nina; as a senior manager, she could judge what kind of person Nina was; for some reason, deep down, she felt jealous of the beauty of the young girl in front of her, only with thin makeup but radiated an extraordinary beauty aura that came from within her. Victoria seemed to catch a signal that this girl was a particular employee. She could see it in the way she spoke, the look in her eyes, and her gestures.

Finally, Laura and Nina returned to their respective rooms; Nina remembered Laura's message before they parted, "Nina, avoid dealing with Miss. Victoria as much as possible." Why? Was she evil? Is she mighty? Nina sighed like there were so many secrets she needed to uncover.

Meanwhile, when Nathan entered his office, he noticed a tote bag on his desk. Emmy explained that it was from Nina, and he nodded and smiled. The man immediately opened the food box that Nina had left; his eyes lit up at seeing several appetizing-looking sandwiches. He tried a piece; it was very delicious, making the man's face light up.

When he was enjoying his special breakfast, the door to his room was opened without knocking first, making the man choke in surprise.
