Chapter 2

She was now sitting inside the parked car, outside the Hilford Hotel she was on the passenger seat while Jake was on the driver's seat busy talking to his phone with his wife and his barely speaking three year old son.

She can hear him chuckles slightly, she envy him for having a wonderful family of his own. She leaned her head on her seat facing the tinted window.

They had just arrived back at the hotel's parking area a few minutes ago after having dinner together and buying clothes for themselves at the nearby mall as per instructed by their boss Ace.

"Avoid buying trash! Or else i'll cut your salary in halves! Is that clear?!" He reminded them all trough out their way to Hilford Hotel.

"Yes sir!" They replied in sync, while exchanging glances at each other in front of the car.

They both bought signitured brands clothes paired with shoes that worth a month of their salary, Ace is being too generous all of a sudden for them to looked nice and more decent than usual.

She just typically picked some simple yet formal clothes hoping he wouldn't scold her again regarding her choice of clothes.

"Hey, ugly duckling! Cancel all my appointments for tomorrow morning." He suddenly said.

"We will visit the construction project with the Shawns, we can't afford some delays. Unless you want to stay here for good." He said regarding the construction of The La Marinae Hotel while checking his gold wrist watch making sure they're still not late for his date with Alice Shawn.

"Noted sir!" She replied cheerfully with a smile on her face as if she suddenly heard a good news from him. Good thing Ace doesn't want to waste time in this country like her as well.

She really wanted to go back home as soon as possible, she misses Kylie and her mom already.

She stared outside the window for a long time, it was already past 10pm yet Ace was still enjoying his company with Alice.

Jake was still busy talking to his family on his mobile phone. And she's starting to feel bored sitting inside the car with no one else to talk to.

She stares at the elegant signage of the Hilford hotel from the tinted window of the car, the blinking lights never changed after five long years, it was still the same, she thought.

It was here that night. She smiled bitterly. Memories started flashing through her mind like flood.

The rain was pouring hard outside and she was sitting inside this same hotel on their favorite spot, she was patiently waiting for James. He suddenly send her a message after being cold these past few days.

He was too busy with his work lately and couldn't come home on time recently.

She turned her gaze up at the stage where the pianist play a melodious piece, that was James' favorite song she thought while playing the wedding ring on her finger.

She would make it up with James and tell him, she was ready to have a child, a child that he wanted for so long. She felt warm inside thinking they would be having their own children, and they would call them Mom and Dad.

"Mrs. Mazon" the voice of a man took her by surprised. It was Ted Andrews. Mazon's family lawyer, he came without notice and he bluntly gave her a brown envelope followed by a pen from his pocket.

"what is this Mr.Andrews? and where is James?" she asked curiously but in formal tone. Hesitantly accepting the envelope from him. She was totally stunned by the man's sudden appearance in that place.

The man didn't bother to reply, instead he took the chair and sat comfortably in front of her with rather a blank expression.

"Where is James?" She asked again confusedly her voice started to falter, turning her gaze around the place as if looking for him. She was starting to feel anxious. This was new, She barely knew this man and his aura was intimidating her.

He just kept on looking at her face.

"Why don't you open it Mrs.Mazon, for you to know." he bluntly said. She knew something is off from the looks of his face making her more uncomfortable.

"where is James? Where is he?" She said in panicking tone, her heart started pounding fast as if it would pump out of her chest, she knew something is wrong and her eyes started to moisten with tears.

Her hands were shaking when she saw what it was, its just a piece of paper, a piece of paper but enough to ruin all her dreams and happy life.

"A divorce agreement? But why?" She asked hysterically. Her tears starts falling like rain and she suddenly couldn't breathe.

She blinked her eyes as if she was waking herself from a nightmare. She couldn't believed what was happening right now.

"James is waiting for that Mrs.Mazon." he said in a low voice avoiding the other tables to overheard them pulling her back to reality.

It looks like he was ready to spare more time just to get her answer. She wanted to ask why but her voice wouldn't come out as if there's something stuck in her throat.

"This is for the best, Ms.Summer." he added addressing her like that, bruising her heart more. Who was he to tell her what's best for her?

"Don't worry Mr. Mazon is willing to give you a fair share of your conjugal property. You could start your new life again in no time." The man continued but she was too hurt to understand what he was saying.

She couldn't read it anymore, she was blinded by tears. She gripped the pen hard enough to stop her hands from shaking before she found the courage to speak again.

"Tell him, i won't get anything from him." She said harshly to hide her pitiful state and broken pride before she signed the agreement and put it back to the envelope together with her wedding ring.

She didn't know how long she was sitting there inside the hotel after the man left. Her heart ached so badly that she wanted to die and all she knew was he was gone that night. She felt numb.

"Hey! What's the matter?" Jake's loud voice took her back from her train of thoughts.

"Are you crying?" The concerned man asked her curiously, while giving her a pack of tissue from infront of the steering wheel.

"No." She simply replied taking off her eye glasses and wiping her tears with the tissue.

Jake gave her a hug after realizing why she suddenly cry.

"shh, its okay!" He comforted her, he knew their story almost all of it, and she cried silently in his shoulder until she felt empty.

"I know you'll find the right one for you." he said comforting her while gently rubbing her upper back making her comfortable.

She thought she's over with it already, but now she knew she's far from over. And she hated herself for that.

His memories was like a ghost that haunts her these past five years.

That's how they looked like when Ace entered the car. His delicate brows suddenly arched.

"Oh wow, are you two dating?!" he suddenly asked when he saw them intimately hugging (at least to him) and then he burst into laughter as if he saw something outrageous and awkward at that very moment.

"Ofcourse not sir!" they both answered. She suddenly pulled herself away from Jake and quicky put on her eye glasses back after wiping her tears.

"There is nothing wrong if you like each other" he added with a knowing look in his handsome face.
