02 : I want a divorce

CHAPTER TWO

Olivia keeps tossing back and forth on the bed. Since this morning, she remained locked up in her room and the urge to eat something was far from her.

She cannot bring herself to do anything not even to get up from the bed which she has been lying on for hours.

Everywhere she looks, reminds her of Maynard's infidelity and Lucy's words crosses her mind again.

"Divorce him. He's not meant for you! You don't deserve him! You don't deserve a man who runs back to his ex girlfriend barely one year of being married. He's a coward, you should not live with this. You deserve a better man Olivia....."

Those words never left her head and it's beginning to drive her crazy. How can Lucy suggest such a thing? Of course, Maynard is cheating on her... She deserves a better man, but Maynard can be better!

Olivia believes that this is a challenge she must overcome in her marriage. It breaks her heart that she is the one suffering from all of this but she has to fix it. She has to get her man back.

Regardless of everything happening, Maynard is still her husband. They made vows to stand by each other and she must live by it. She still loves him and will not divorce him.

Olivia sits up and rubs her face, coming to the conclusion of making things right. She chooses her next move, that is to prepare a delicious dinner and they can settle things afterwards. She'd apologize for anything at all, he might just be upset, maybe she did something wrong.

Just as she made to stand, her cellphone beeped. Reaching for her phone, a slight frown forms on her forehead, it is a bank alert from Maynard and just then, he called.

"Did you receive the money?" His voice came out so hoarse that it sent shivers down her spine, creating weird feelings in her.

"Uh.. yeah, I..."

"Great! Pay the maids extra and have them clean the entire house and prepare a really delicious meal. Am bringing Vernes over...."

Words got stuck in her throat... Did he just say he's bringing Vernes over?

".. Oh! And, make sure everything is perfect and behave yourself. You don't want to see the other side of me if you mess things up.."

"Why Maynard? Why are you doing this?" Olivia finally finds her voice but it was all cracked up because she was fighting so hard to hold back her tears.

She's trying to set things right but he worsens things up by wanting to bring Vernes over!

"It's no longer a secret Olivia. You already know who am having an affair with, what's the point hiding it? Be good to Vernes and try to get use to her because you will be seeing her more often.." He disconnects the call.

Olivia pulls her phone away and stared at it with her lips slightly open. The tears she was trying to hold back, broke free.

Lucy was right, Maynard doesn't deserve her. It's a one-sided love. He really doesn't love her and there's no point trying to set things straight. She deserves a more better man, not some cheating jerk..!

"Damn you Maynard.." She throws her phone to the bed and breaks down in tears. "I hate you..."

Wiping off the lone tears on her cheeks moments later, Olivia stands up and walks to the mirror. A dull, tired and frustrated lady keeps staring back at her. This is what Maynard has reduced her into.

She brushed her hair a bit since it's disheveled and applies pomade on her face to ease the pale look, then she takes off her wedding ring and a necklace and places them on an envelope.

Olivia pulls out her luggage and moves to the door. With a final glance at the room, she heads out without looking back and ignoring the stares from the maids.

Why did it take her so long to do this? Well, It's finally over!!

Lost in thoughts, She kept staring out the window as she made her way back home. Anyone could actually tell that she's pained at first glance.

"Please turn off the music, I don't want to hear it! Romance music's irritates me, none of it is true, they're all just lies" Olivia said and the driver immediately turns off the music.

Soon, they got to the address and Olivia didn't realize it until the driver jolts her out of her thoughts. She paid the driver off and rang the door bell, patiently waiting for Lucy to show up. Shortly, the door pulls open, revealing Lucy.

"Hey!" Lucy calls out softly, concern clearly visible on her face.

"I...I.." Olivia choke on her words as tears filled her eyes again.. "... I should have listened to you from the onset sister. You were right, I... I..." She breaks down in tears.

"Hey! It's okay! Let's go in"

Maynard walks hand in hand with Vernes into the living room and his excitement dies down when he found the dining table empty, the maids were no where to be seen.

"What the!! Thought we're going to have dinner together, why is it empty?" Vernes asked in a sassy tone.

"She's so going to get it from me, wait here" Maynard stormed towards the stairs, looking upset and ready to lash out on Olivia for refusing to do what he asked.

Barging in, he meets an empty room with no sign of Olivia. The wardrobe is open and her luggages are gone.

Maynard squints his eyes when he found an envelope with a ring on top. Picking up the envelope, he pulls out a paper only to realize that it's a divorce papers and Olivia already signed her part.

"Is this a joke or something?" He asks himself. He pulls out his phone and placed a call across to Olivia after noticing that she refunded double of the money he had sent earlier.

"Where the hell are you Olivia and what is this nonsense am seeing?" He groused.

"Nonsense? It's a divorce papers Maynard and you should sign your part as soon as possible let's end this loveless marriage.. And that's your ring, you can give it to Vernes, I don't need them anymore" Olivia responded and disconnected the call.

Maynard tries to call back but it wasn't going through. "Dammit" He cursed and throws the paper back on the table.

He finds it hard to believe that Olivia would want to leave. He looks around the room, not a single property of hers is left behind, she took everything, leaving behind the ones that belongs to him.

Maynard let out a sigh and suddenly became clueless. The emptiness in the room slaps him hard on the face. He feels like he crossed the line this time. But as soon as those emotions came in, he push them aside.

"If divorce is what she wants, I'll give it to her. I was planning on ending our marriage as well" He turns and walks out of the room. ".. Let's eat someplace else. I suddenly don't like it here" He walks ahead while Vernes followed behind.

Maynard kept picking on his meal while thinking about the divorce papers Olivia sent him. One part of him wants to get a divorce as well and a tiny little part of him doesn't want to.

He already told Vernes everything, he didn't expect her to proffer any solution tho but he till told her.

He was lost in thoughts and didn't notice the stares Vernes passed him until she taps on the table

"What's wrong? Why the sudden change of mood? Are you still thinking about the divorce?"

"I can't help it!" Maynard muttered, drinking from his glass of water.

"So, what are you going to do? She already signed her part!"

"Honestly, I don't know either! I want to get a divorce as well and at the same time, I feel like I should ask her to come back"

"If you want my advice, then divorce her!.." Vernes said and he raise his brows. ".. Am here Maynard, you don't need her anymore! Besides, you planned on getting rid of her, right? You don't have to worry, you know I always give you what you want.!!!"

She licks her lips and eyes him seductively. " .... Now you're about to get divorced, we don't need to hide anymore. you're a free man and you can do whatever you like... C'mon, let's go home You look so stressed out, I don't mind giving you a massage. Trust me, I do my thing well..." She holds his hand and pulls him up.

Maynard pulls her closer and kiss her roughly, pouring out his anger towards Olivia into the kiss. He pulls away after sometime.

"Can you do anything to please me?"

Vernes let out a mischievous smile. "Nice! Always at your service Maynard Sanchez"

She walks out of the restaurant, pulling Maynard by his tie and swaying her hips from side to side.
