Chapter 17

Jean gave a sarcastic smile. “Self-respect? Heck! Doesn’t a man like you love to see an easy woman like me? Whatever I do, you will still see my self-respect as pretension.”

Etan’s tall figure completely overshadowed her. She looked petite in comparison.

But she was special, as if a natural contradictory complex—bewitching yet restrained, and graceful yet cold.

Men are inherently eager to conquer such a woman, but few of them could remain a gentleman in front of such a woman.

“In case you forgot, it was I who saved you just now. Shouldn’t you be thankful to me?”

“Be thankful to you? Do you think I’m so stupid that I know nothing, Mr. Mann? I thought you enjoyed watching me being bullied just now?” She sneered.

He watched and did not intervene while others bullied her.

It was not until Jason was about to rape her in front of everyone he intervened. But that was only because he did not want trouble for himself.

This man was the most cold-blooded and horrible human on the planet.

He was clearly in control but stayed out of it the entire time.

He was the most black-hearted man she had ever seen.

She suddenly felt pity for Anne.

A man as sophisticatedly manipulative as Etan was not someone she could mess with.

He was too unfeeling, as if no one was worthy of his attention. Anger boiled inside her. She lost her cool and pushed him against the wall.

The corner of her lips turned up in a bewitching smile. “I am curious to know whether you are a genuine gentleman or just pretending.”

He did not answer her question but leaned against the wall, motionless, as he looked at her with a nonchalant expression.

With a coquettish smile, she slid her fingers down along his chest slowly.

He caught her hand when her fingers reached his kidney.

Her hand was so tiny that he could wrap it in his hand. It felt incredibly soft, just like her waist.

“You have crossed the line, Miss Mitchell. You seem to have forgotten my relationship with your friend.”

His voice sounded hoarse, which was something he did not realize.

Jean suddenly came to her senses and pulled her hand back abruptly. She then stepped back, the frivolous smile fading on her face and was replaced by a distant expression.

“I am sorry. I was in a grim mood and had one too many. Please forgive me if I have gone overboard.”

She nodded apologetically before spinning around and left.

Just after making two paces, she stopped. “Don’t worry. As bad as my conduct is, I won’t steal my friend’s man.”

He looked on as she walked away and disappeared around the corner.

Glancing down at his hand, he could feel the remnant sensation of her touch in his palm.

The pain in Jean’s stomach became unbearable. She was sweating profusely.

Just as she stepped out of Club Elegance, her vision went dark, and she tumbled to the ground.
