Chapter 86 Confession

Annabel excitedly ran up to Maverick. "Mavey! I have two tickets to the Snowplay concert. Let's go together!"

"I'm not going," Maverick refused.

"Come with me!" Annabel whined.

"I said no!" Maverick impatiently pulled away from Annabel's grip. "You're grown up now! Don't you know about personal boundaries?"

Annabel's gaze darkened. "If growing up means losing you, I'd rather die as a child."

"Easier said than done!" Maverick's mood was already sour, and now he was getting angry. "If you want to die that badly, then go to a busy road and get hit by a car! You won't feel a single thing if a truck ran over you!"

Annabel lowered her head in silence.

Having lived with Maverick for many years, she could easily tell between his genuine anger and his feigned irritation. Right now, she had truly provoked him.

Watching Annabel's distressed expression, Maverick clenched his fists tightly and recalled her mother's dying wish. Pain flashed across his eyes.
