The AA meetings had become the highlight of Audrey's week. She had been clean for three months. Audrey wasn't sure if it was a placebo effect but her thoughts had become nicer, and the void she had been feeling started to subside.
Gabriel had been so supportive, even encouraging Audrey to go back to school. She had considered it in the past but felt like she was abandoning her boys if she did. But they were eight and six. It wasn't like they were toddlers who needed constant monitoring with consistent nurturing. Being a mother wasn't all bad, she loved her sons but she had no maternal instincts. If they had been birds, she probably would have kicked them out of the nest by now.
