065 A Moment of Peace

Seeing William's state of mind, I asked the mages to go. They hugged me and left quietly. I went to meet my husband on the couch. He had tears in his eyes. I could relate.

" William," I said and knelt by the couch. He looked at me, snapping out of his thoughts and sat up.

" I have never felt so helpless in my life Ellis," he confessed to me. I used my thumb to wipe the lone tear that had escaped his eyes. He grabbed my hand and kissed it passionately.

" I am sorry I can't help you, darling. I feel so useless watching you carry all this weight upon your shoulder. I should share your burden, but I can't". He said, and I hugged him tightly and wept in his arm. All William needed was a break. We had our backs to the wall with nothing to fight with. How did the fates expect us to survive this?

" I miss the sun, and I miss the way it made your skin glow, Ellis, and I wished I could put it back in the sky, and you wouldn't have to lift a finger, but I can't. I cannot do anything,
