Charlie’s POV
“Will she be happy to see me?” I ask Max as I pull my seatbelt on
“Honestly, I am not sure. She was pretty pissed off with you for rejecting me”
Maybe it was a bad idea, maybe we should turn back now, but as we roll up to the gates, the warriors glare at us. Max tells them that Alpha Zach had given permission for us to head into town and see Kiwi. Strangely they let us through without even questioning us but they continue to give me dirty looks and I press myself into the seat, wishing myself to disappear from view. Everywhere I went, people hated me!
Max drives down the narrow lane but he stays quiet, concentrating on the winding lanes
“Why did you lie?”
“Pardon?”
“Why did you lie?, back there to the guards, you told them Alpha Zach said we could go”
“Because they would have never allowed you out else. They keep you a prisoner Charlie”<
Alpha Max’s POVKiwi sits on the back seat with Charlie, they don’t speak and Charlie lies down, resting her head on Kiwis lap. I wish I could hear what she was thinking like I used to be able too.It was an odd feeling, seeing how close they were, Charlie had spent time with Kiwi long before she came here. Kiwi had taught her how to use her magic even though Kiwi had lost hers along the way, the result of not being a first born female Lycan.I had always wondered how close they got but Charlie never spoke of it and neither did Kiwi, shutting it down any time I had raised the subject. As we drive back to the pack, the car remains silent, no one knew what to say but after a couple of miles, Kiwi’s confused voice pops in my head“She has no Lycan”Her comment makes me swerve and as I straighten the car, I look at her in the mirror and keep the conversation private“How do you know?”&ldqu
Alpha Zach’s POVThat high pitched scream echoed out across the grounds, I am certain I see the trees recoil under the pressure and as I watch the others crumble to the ground, it does nothing to me, just like before. As I move towards her, it is almost like her scream steps up a gear and I am positive it may have even reached the human town.Reaching out towards her, she takes another step back before turning and running as she realises the scream is not affecting me like it was the others. The only option was to shift, I was quickest as my Lycan. Beating the ground with all four paws behind her as she runs and Adam is right, she is quick as she leaps over fallen trees with ease as she is trying to get away, but she is not as fast as a pure bred vampire and I stay on her trail, less than a few metres from her.I am not sure what my plan would be when I get to her or how I was even going to deal with what she just did. There was no denying th
Alpha Max’s POVThe ringing in my ears took forever to stop, it was like nothing I had ever felt before and I couldn’t figure out how Alpha Zach had not suffered like the rest of us, how he did not have blood running from his ears from the sheer pain she created??My vision had started to spin as Alpha Zach dived into the forest after her and my face hits the gravel. It was only after a few minutes that I could finally stand, trying to make sense of everything that had just happened. The warriors stand, cursing Charlie for what she had done when they turn their attention to me, holding their weapons in my direction again.“You are why she is here” one snarled at me, his eyes black.“Take her home” another demanded as they inched closer to me, trying to scare meStanding my ground, I put myself into a defence position, dropping my knees slightly so I was in a half squat whilst twisting myself to be prepared
Alpha Zach’s POVAlmost a week had passed since I had last seen my Queen. Max and Kiwi resided in a dungeon after I arrested them and I visited the beach every single day searching for an answer, a clue, something, but never finding anything.Draven joined in on the search. He was just as concerned and wanted to know what had happened to his daughter but he came up with as many solutions as I did, neither of us had a clue. When Max and Kiwi walked into my building that day, I was prepared. Bringing him here was a mistake, a very costly mistake because Charlie was not herself and she had been getting worse since he had arrived. He must be holding something over her.Standing in front of their cell, I glare at them. They looked rough although they were being well looked after. Max would speak, demand every single day to be let out whilst Kiwi sat in silence, watching me from the corner of the cell.Arresting them was not my original intention,
Alpha Max’s POVWhen Alpha Zach arrested us, I didn’t fight it. I would not have stood a chance against his pack and i would rather be alive then dead.As I sit here in the dingy cell, I keep my eyes trained on Kiwi, it was the first time she had spoken out loud to Alpha Zach. She would mind link me telling me to keep the conversation in our minds because they would not hear a thing. The scream above ground had caused Alpha Zach to run off at speed, he hadn’t returned, and I expected the worst. At least now he will believe it is not us doing the killings.“Do you think its another teenager?” I ask KiwiShe looks at me in the dimly lit cell and rolls her eyes“Could you not tell?, the scream came from a child, not an adult or a teenager”She goes back to sitting in silence, closing her eyes, most likely searching for Charlie again.“You are not going to find her!”We h
Alpha Zach’s POVCalling for Draven’s help was not what I wished for, but he was being targeted too. Kiwi was certain the murderer was after Charlie and it made sense after seeing the carvings of her name in their eyelids.Whoever it is must not know that she jumped off the cliff otherwise there would not be another death. Now we had something to go on, Katie had seen the man but I was not willing to put her in harms way, she was only a child. She was sat playing snap with Max, giggling as he let her win for the third time. She was completely oblivious to how much danger she was in because I was certain the murderer would come back and end her.Her laugh is infectious and I find myself laughing along with everyone whilst Draven shook his head in annoyance“We have not got time for this Alpha Zach” Dravens red eyes bore into my own“She is not safe” I retort“And neither is my daughter&r
Alpha Max’s POVKatie was a sweet little girl, her eyes bright with innocence as she laughs. I let her win our game of snap, she was only five and the pure joy on her face each time flooded my heart and I briefly wonder what mine and Charlies pups would have looked like. The kid was weary of Draven and I didn’t blame her, from what I knew of vampires and my meeting with Draven, they were not something to be trusted, twisting everything so it suited them. When I carried Katie away, I listened to their conversation from the other side of the door. I wanted to know more about Kiwi and how she was involved with the vampire. If I was Alpha Zach, I would not be letting her out of the cell anytime soon.I was shocked to hear that Kiwi knew who Draven was and as the memories of her whilst in her breakdown enter my mind I realise she guided us into contacting Alpha Zach. She was never in a breakdown, she had been playing us all along. How long had she
Alpha Zach’s POVI could not believe what I was seeing, my own brother was mixing with the humans but how and why? He was a Lycan and I had seen his Lycan form.He looks in my direction, obviously sensing I was there but he does not see me and I watch him duck away from the crowd, heading back inside the building he came from. Others follow him and they return moments later but this time with shot guns.Kayden’s voice comes into my head “Did you tell Max to stay in your office?”“Yes” I snap back, this was not the time to be distracted with stupid questions“Why? I thought you had arrested him?”“Kayden, just shut your mouth, I am busy” I shut the mind link off and move, I had to keep an eye on my brother, whatever he was up too. They walk down the road parallel to the forest. Adam keeps looking in my direction, but he still does not see me and my Lycan hides our scent. I cou
