Charlie’s POV

He couldn’t be serious; he was inviting the very man I had rejected to his pack. I stare at him with my mouth hanging open as he tells me that Kiwi had answered the phone and accepted the invitation.

Why would he do this after I told him to kiss me?

“It’s a joke right” I throw my hands up in the air, muttering to myself

“I am not joking”

“Then why would you do that? I thought you liked me”

“You know I do, but I thought maybe he could help out with the murders”

“And he agreed?”

“No, like I said, Kiwi answered the phone, she was the one to agree”

Blowing out my cheeks, I huff at him. It had only been a few weeks and I had been longing to see Max, right up until I felt his acceptance of my rejection and now the very idea of him coming here had me on edge.

“Charlie, you are overthinking this”
