Chapter Eighteen

As I continued to cry, my heart felt heavy with the weight of disappointment and sadness. Marc held me tightly, his embrace offering me solace and comfort. His voice was filled with concern as he gently asked why I was crying.

Between sobs, I managed to choke out the words, “I'm not pregnant, Marc. The test… it was negative.”

His grip tightened around me, and I could feel his heartbeat at that moment. The pain in his eyes mirrored my own, and it shattered me to see him hurting because of me.

“I'm so sorry, Harlow,” he whispered, his voice filled with sorrow. “I had hoped… I had allowed myself to believe that I could change everything …"

His words trailed off as emotions overwhelmed him. We sat there on the bathroom floor, holding on to each other, both of us hurting in our ways. The dream of starting a family together seemed to crumble before our eyes, leaving us feeling lost and broken.

At that moment, I realized how much this meant to Marc. It wasn't just about me not being pregnant
