Was that a gunshot I just heard?

"Mommy, what was that?" Sofia asked very surprised to how loud what ever that was sounded.

"It's nothing honey, just stay inside while I go check it out for ." I said about to head out when one of the maids held my hand tightly.

" What's wrong?" I asked the maid who had a sad expression on her face.

" I need to keep you inside this room for your safety. We are used to things like this but this is your first witnessing things like this." The maid said like it wasn't a new thing.

The maid chuckled before placing Sofia on a sofa and moving closer to my ear.
