Ch97: Little ancestor

“Boss, the annual party tonight…” Fortune walked into Dave's office and began explaining.

But Dave raised his hand to stop him. “I won't be attending. You should have known that,” he said.

Fortune sighed. “Of course. You have never attended it! I just thought that you would have a change of mind this year,” he said.

Dave did not say anything. He continued working on his computer as though he was not the person that Fortune was talking to.

Fortune sighed and looked at me. “Mia, the party will start at seven o'clock. You can call me if you don't have someone to drop you…” he said.

And Dave suddenly turned to look at me. “Are you going?“ He asked, as though he was shocked.

I creased my brows and nodded. “It is a party for all employees. Of course, I will have to go,” I said.

I wasn't like him. Even though I hated places with a lot of people, that was a sacrifice I could make only once every year.
