Getting news that was different from what he feared, Mike almost fell from the joy of it. He felt like dancing and at the same time, he felt like putting his head on the doctor’s shoulder to weep deeply like he had never done since he was a child. 

This of course was more than absurd. He had never been the type to give rein to public emotions and display, so he wondered where that came from. 

Raising his shoulder as if that would get rid of the unwelcome emotions, he closed his eyes tightly before opening them to look at the doctor. Smiling, he moved to the doctor to take her hand in appreciation but her next words stopped him in his tracks.
