Chapter 51 –  Why Would You Think That

(Finn’s POV)

Working on a Sunday was fine if it was only me because I never felt comfortable asking my employees to come to the office, but I needed Lexi to assist me today. Sky gave me a heads-up about the board meeting this coming week and told me to study the figures and the reports. As much as he wanted to sit with me today, his business trip was important.

I glanced at my wristwatch, sighing that I was two hours late. When I came to the church, Father Jesse had started the service already, and I had no choice but to sit and listen to his homily, finish the mass, and run to my car, hoping heaven would forgive me for declining the priest’s offer to stay for another mass.

“My soul might go beyond heaven, Father Jesse,” I joked, relieved when he laughed and tapped my shoulder.
