JUDE POV

“Jude.”

I stand in the doorway staring at the woman that I have spent the last few years loving, waiting for her to look up and see me. When she finally turns my way, my name is the only thing that falls from her lips. She looks much better than what she did when we found her, but I’m more worried about her mental state at this point.

“Beth, I’m glad to see you up and talking.” I move closer to the bed and take a seat in the same chair that I assume Ella sat in, “Ella told me what you told her. Thank you for putting her mind to rest about her sister.”

“Why wouldn’t I? I don’t hate Ella, I never have. That girl is hard to dislike,” she chuckles, “I was only jealous over the attention you were showing her, but that’s on me.” Her fingers play with a loose thread on the comforter, and she turns her head to watch them, “I was feeling guilty because what I was doing with Craig.”

I nod but my jaw still clenches at the reminder of her time with her boss, “I’m not here to talk abo

Honestly, I love that even with her messing up with Jude, that you still wrote her as a character that generally had good character. Sure, she messed up with Jude, but she wasn’t malicious in her actions. I think the most compelling villains are the ones the writer makes us sympathize with.
